Development / Realm size control

Loyalty of provinces that have no lord designated quickly deteriorates and they go rogue again.

Discuss.

Feature Requests / Mark messages to reply later
« on: December 16, 2014, 02:04:02 PM »
Most of us play several characters at once. Often your read new messages during the day but are unable to answer right away. Sometimes you just forget to answer to roleplay or personal messages, which get buried in the message avalanche. I think we could use a feature that would allow us tag messages we want to not forget reply to later.
How it will work:
There'll be another small button/star icon under each message. When you click it, that message is tagged. When you finally have time for roleplay/verbous letters, you go to "Messages" screen and click an "Ask your squire to bring you the letters you have put aside to reply later" option and see all the messages you have thus previously tagged.
Now you'll never forget to reply to important messages and will have easier time finding them when you've got time to reply!

Beluaterra / The "Advertise Your Realm" thread.
« on: November 23, 2014, 10:24:25 AM »
Rumour has it that Beluaterra currently has the most conflict and intrigue. Due to character creation restrictions, I will not reach BT until a few weeks from now and thought I might as well use the time to get acquainted with the continent a bit.
Please tell me why I (and other players) should (or should not) join your realm once I arrive!

Development / Additional character info page for RP purposes
« on: October 04, 2014, 05:41:15 PM »
Sometimes, however rarely that might be, you want to roleplay with other characters.
What makes it somewhat hard is oftentimes the only thing you know about them is their name and title. Even if you've been roleplaying with people for a while you might not even know certain obvious things, like a character being particularly handsome, or very tall, or crippled, etc.
I would like to see an additional customizable page where each player could edit his character's appearance. Overall description of appearance and demeanor, preferred clothing and artifacts. Maybe even some biography facts, but that could prove to be problematic so I'm not sure about that one.
To dwell on it, optional fields for his army's and estate's description might also be cool and add depth to RP.
Thoughts?

Newbie Board / Captured during a ferry ride
« on: August 12, 2014, 06:25:23 PM »
I was captured on a ferry half way to my destination. There were like 20+ more hours till I was supposed to arrive.
Is this a bug or intended behaviour?

Newbie Board / Travel times
« on: August 11, 2014, 06:09:44 PM »
One of my character has strange discrepancies in traveling times estimation.
When in Travel screen I see an expected quantity of hours needed to travel between regions but once I embark and return to Travel screen that number always changes and becomes considerately bigger.
Any ideas why that can be happening? My character is not wounded, has no unit and no burdening paraphernalia.

Development / Border Raids
« on: July 17, 2014, 10:43:18 AM »
Any unit or group of units can launch a raid into a neighbouring province. Province in question has to belong to a different realm, but not necessarily a hostile one.
Raider unit doesn't actually move into enemy province. It raids close to the border and returns back promptly.
Raiding party can only be intercepted by mobile troops, not militia.
Due to the swift nature of raids, scouting can not discern if the party is about to raid next turn. Maybe infiltrators might have that ability.
Raiders can either damage infrastucture (but not destroy, I guess) or loot gold/grain.

Why?
1. Gives non-landed knights stuff to do when there is no open war.
2. Potentially increases tension between neighbouring states which might lead to more wars or political drama.
3. Generally keeps people on their toes and introduces the phenomena of tumultuous borderlands.

South Island / Kudos thread
« on: July 10, 2014, 04:54:25 AM »
This thread is for sharing all the great experiences you're having on SI.
Despite being a clear underdog now, I'm having a blast in Ikalak and here's a shout-out for all the folks who made this possible.

First of all, major props to Taselak and Sandalak for maintaining the spirit of sportsmanship and allowing Ikalak a second chance. I'm enjoying RP correspondence with my Taselak counterparts immensely.

Secondly, kudos to my realm-mates who didn't defect and keep fighting with honour and determination. The drama is gone and the fun is back.  :)

Development / News and Rumours
« on: June 27, 2014, 10:17:48 AM »
I am currently enjoying my time in Fissoa but have no idea what other realms are like. I've heard D'Hara is very conservative and they have a vote on every smallest issue and Luria is an overcrowded nest of schemers. I have no knowledge whatsoever about other realms and Morek empire, for instance, is as good as non-existant for me, though I'm sure that there is some interesting stuff going on there too. But I don't have any hands on experience with other realms. I tried to roleplay with guys from other realms but it was a very brief and limited experience.
So far only ways for a simple knight to talk to foreigners are wars and tournaments which are quite rare.

TL;DR Read from here:
So my suggestion is to allow realm Ambassadors compile weekly newsletters that will recap some interesting developments in their kingdom, throw in some ropleplay and rumours (true or misleading) and otherwise let other realms know what's happening. It shouldn't be obligatory, but I think people like me would love this. At least on RP-heavy Dwilight.

Newbie Board / Prestige and fame acquisition
« on: May 27, 2014, 07:05:00 PM »
I noticed that some nobles on South Island already have high prestige and fame while the game haven't even started in earnest.
Are there some other ways to gain prestige and fame that don't require you to spend hours?

Development / Ideas for Adventurers
« on: May 17, 2014, 06:49:51 PM »
Sea travel - cheaper but less certain.
As a knight I pay like 35 gp to procure a sea transport for my entire company with carts and siege engines. As a lone adventurer I pay like 15 gp to board a ship. This doesn't sound right.
I suggest lowering the price significantly. Several gp should be enough.
But a certain twist can be added - while nobles can just rent a ship and sail whenever they want, commoners can on only afford to hop on a ship already bound for some port. So every coastal province could have 0-3 ships (more ships in more developed regions) leaving to random ports, destinations changing every day.

More consistent adventuring patterns.
If there was a large battle with lots of casualties or starvation, a region gets a significant increase in undead activity and higher bounties.
Provinces where infrastructure is undeveloped or have severely deteriorated might experience an influx of monsters.
This way we'll just have places where adventurers can expect to find more adventure, thus congregating there and joining forces.

More adventurer/noble interaction in intrigue. More adventurer/adventurer interaction in PvP
I don't buy noble assassins. Leave spying and assassination to adventurers!
Adventurers need to be able to gather more information (especially military info) from the regions they're in.
Give adventurers increased skills in stealth. Make it very hard for nobles to spot and catch an adventurer. Make it fairly easy for another adventurer to track a colleague.
So that to weed infiltrators from their lands, nobles would have to employ other adventurers.

Discuss and throw in your own ideas.
