I just pre-ordered it.

Anyone know when the beta will open? The game looks awesome.

Helpline / Family aid
« on: August 23, 2011, 07:32:58 AM »
Does it consider your bonds when determining whether or not you can call upon family aid?

Kind of silly when you are outside of your realm, and then a tax gives you a bunch of bonds that prevent you from calling upon family aid to pay your men.

Perhaps it should only consider your bonds when you are in your own lands?

But honestly, why does it care how much gold you have on you anyways? It's gold one had taken out of his pockets to send to the mansion anyhow.

Helpline / Hatred

You have now declared Sint as evil incarnate, the enemies of everything that Imperskoe Viys'ko iz Fheuv'na stands for, and a realm of twisted, smelly people who deserve nothing but hate and brutal death.
Your peasants fall for you hook, line and sinker. Aside from a (short-term) morale boost in your armed forces, you also get a better grip on internal dissidents - as long as the war is going well.

What does this mean? Is there penalties if the war isn't going well? How does the game consider if the war is going well or not?

Helpline / Signing treaties into effect
« on: August 18, 2011, 06:53:26 AM »
Quote
his treaty was drafted by Guillaume Chénier, Hetman and Mirovoy Kaznatchey of Imperskoe Viys'ko iz Fheuv'na, Senator of Iato, Ambassador of Imperskoe Viys'ko iz Fheuv'na on 2011-08-18.

You can not sign treaties into effect that you (or another member of your family) created.

In general, this makes sense. Unless the realm's only ambassador is also the ruler. Does that mean I can't propose any treaties unless I convince someone to become a diplomat somehow so that I may then promote him and ask him to sign my treaty?

Makes no sense. The ruler ought to be able to validate any treaty on his own, whether he drafted it himself, or another of his family, or anyone really.

Helpline / How are estate needs calculated?
« on: August 17, 2011, 06:50:36 PM »
Iato, a city with 10880 citizens, only requires 8 estate points to work fine.
Sandlakes, a rural with 5995, requires 10.

Why? My wealthier more populated city requires less knights than my less populated and less wealthy rural? I should be having 3 nobles aligned to Sandlakes and only 2 aligned to Iato, including the lords???

Helpline / Message group size limit
« on: August 11, 2011, 04:08:34 AM »
What's the reasoning behind putting a size limit to message groups?

I would have wanted to create a message group for everyone for diplomacy and political talks, for which uninterested people could then have opted out.

Is there a reason I can't lump more than 50% of the realm in any given message group?

Helpline / Changing banners
« on: August 06, 2011, 04:13:43 AM »
Is there a cooldown on this? Since I din't want the ugly blank banner, I picked RedFlag.jpg until the custom banner and icon I had done could be updated for me to use.

I now see my icon in the list, but I can't seem to select it. Is it because I changed banners yesterday? If so, when will I be able to change it to the desired icon?

Feature Requests / Ambassador title hidden for rulers
« on: August 05, 2011, 01:20:31 PM »
It's kinda pointless to mention that a ruler is also an ambassador.

"Guillaume Chénier
Ruler of Imperskoe Viys'ko iz Fheuv'na, Duke of Iato, Ambassador of Imperskoe Viys'ko iz Fheuv'na"

I'm pompous, but that *that* pompous. ;)

At worse, have it put as "Ruler and Ambassador of".

Helpline / The people here do not like being ruled by us.
« on: July 31, 2011, 03:18:28 PM »
How does this work? What triggers it? What's the purpose of this apparently random maintenance time-sink? Is there any way to make it stop?

My region is fed, it's not really far from the capital, it has a knight, proper estates covering authority, they are happy about low taxes, and stats still drop because of this thing. It really feels like the game doesn't want me to do anything else than region maintenance, these days...

Feature Requests / Have dynamic tax rates instead of hard tax rates
« on: July 23, 2011, 06:34:05 AM »
The tolerable tax rates keep changing, and keeping up with it is quite unpleasant and drains time that would be better spent otherwise.

It would be nice if we could set taxes that would dynamically adjust to the tax tolerance rate instead. In other words, instead of saying 7% or 16%, one could say "very low", "low", "average", "high", "very high", and "extremely high". This kind of automation would make the game much more enjoyable, as maintenance is boring is that's what one gets stuck to do whenever the tolerance changes at the stats drop really quickly once they do.

I, for one, fail to have any enjoyment when fiddling with taxes to figure out what the new tolerable limit is every time, receiving 10% stats drops despite the tax cuts again and again. It's a chore that could easily be automated.

Helpline / Acceptable tax limit recalculations
« on: July 22, 2011, 06:53:05 AM »
Is there a random factor? If so, how often is it recalculated? It seems that my lords on all continents (AT, BT, and Dwi) are constantly having to change the tax settings, because the same tax rate that allowed stats to stay at 100% for a while have changed their minds and reduced them to about 50% over a few days some weeks later.

It's frustrating and it's a bore. The daily messages are extremely boring, and I tend to skip over them, expecting them to be the same all the time (which they are, 95% of the time), unless I know something is wrong. There's no fun factor in going to modify the tax settings all the time, it feels like being at the stock markets and looking for the first sign of a peak to withdraw (lower tax settings) in order to minimize losses.

Is there a changing random factor, or is it due to weird circumstances? 'Cause Minas Ithil hasn't been growing. Enweil hasn't grown in a while, and D'Hara hasn't grown in even longer, yet I regularly have tax rates that are apparently fine turn into "much too high, hurting production and morale" followed by significant drops.

It didn't use to bother me as much when I had an apparent infinite supply of free time on my hands, but now I'm finding that I'm having less time for interacting with others and making stuff happen because I'm dumping more and more time fiddling with taxes and doing maintenance.

Feature Requests / Appointed rulers
« on: July 20, 2011, 04:29:32 AM »
Now this would need some tweaking, but as a general idea I think this has a lot of gameplay/RP potential.

What I would like to see would be, for monarchies and theocracies, the possibility to set it so that the ruler is not elected, but rather appointed by the judge. If this option is selected, then one could not set the judge to appointment, for obvious reasons.

It would be very historically accurate to have the leader of the faith appoint/anoint the ruler in medieval and ancient times. In monarchies, the judge is even called the Arch Priest.

I've roleplayed such an independent Arch Priest in the past, and it was loads of fun. I think such a change could bring interesting new dynamics and a greater diversity in the political landscapes amongst realms.
