Feature Requests / Re: Simple request: male/female symbols

Assuming male and female apply to them, that is. Who's to say daimons don't reproduce entirely asexually? Perhaps they bud from one another...

Ugh, that image is so horrifying that I hope it sticks.

Prudent was female. I believe there was at least another too, but I don't recall. Sherilynn doesn't really count, by my book, though.

I didn't realise that everyone designs their religion in order to maximise the potential recruits. Here I was thinking that some people just make something they think is cool.

You realize you are saying that to the person that centered a religion around, you know, human sacrifices?

Concerning that religion, i have been thinking about it for quite some time now.
This is what i have until now: http://wiki.battlemaster.org/wiki/Beluaterranism

The next big thing for me regarding religion is one that basically says "Look guys, X had this right, Y had that right, Z had that right, but none of you guys bothered to recognize the truth in the others' preachings or develop on the truths you had within our your own lore. To save Beluaterra, we must exit this narrow-mindedness". I don't intend to make it an official religion, though, but I wouldn't mind affiliating myself with you if you desire to found something close to this.

Excluding the theocracy of Sint, right? :P

For a very long time, Fronen was nothing but an extension of the Blood Cult. Also, I think the Valentic Order had a good grasp on Valentia. ;)

It is conceivable that Lurian would use the conflict to re-engage Fissoa.

They can do that any day. The Fissoans aren't required for action against Madina, though they are just awfully convenient to have on our side. There's no reason for this issue to have any relevance to any potential new conflict between the Grand Duchy and PeL. And I can't see how they could bring failed mediation attempts up as a causus belli...

It's simply not the best PR move, as it alienates a great deal of people (for various different reasons). Even those who haven't dealt with the Zuma have heard of the BT daimons.

There is no OOC Clan in Thulsoma (I don't know why so many people get that impression) any misinformation and propaganda spread by Thulsoma, is done by careful networking and spies. But yeah, Thulsoma has been the progenitor for a lot of anti SA propaganda in just about every non SA realm. Of course, it all comes to fruition after we lose Storms Keep. That said, the massive continental war we've ginned up,  and the League Of Free Nations should be epic, and anyone who underestimates Madina's coming involvement shall be surprised.

This is where I last read this topic. Makes me lol.

As far as religions, Sanguis Astroism is the most active.... but I am personally biased in favor of Triunism, of course.

Or a short walk east will give you temples of Verdis Elementum. ;)

Helpline / Re: Investment
« on: June 11, 2011, 04:46:02 AM »
I think that Chénier is actually advocating a "research" element to the game, where an investment leads to a permanent increase in productivity.

That would be neat, but would mainly help regions that are well-sheltered from invading armies. My region of Raviel, for example.

Not really, I don't think permanent boosts would be in any way balanced (unless they work like other buildings and can be looted and have upkeep? could work too I guess...)

I just had in my mind stuff like paying to have massive irrigation pipelines built, or new fancy mills and the like, which would deteriorate because of use and production would therefore return to normal after a short time like it does now. Mind you, agricultural infrastructure sounds like a good way to go ahead with this too, and could be rather interesting. Right now, building warehouses are our only options.

In name only.  The new Fronen might have a very few people who were at some point in the upper echelons of the old one, but by and large, it's a completely different realm, with everything but the name totally changed.

Absolutely. I was a part of both versions at different points in time, and close to the only other actually from the old Fronen that I am aware to have joined the new one. It really had nothing to do with the previous version, at all.

Hetland was a pretty accurate rebirth of (latter days) Plergoth, as far as I know, as they had all left for RoF together.

How exactly would LN/PeL pay for Madina's downfall? It's not like we've ever depended on them in the slightest.

Madina's downfall? The question was about protecting Madina if they destroy Aurvandil, as "on their own", without the help of "another power bloc", they would not be able to resist the wrath of the southern coalition. If they break the truce and attack Aurvandil, though, I guess you are free to join in the party in Madina.

BT is also a testing island, which means things are...tested there. That's why early mortality code was insane and people dropped like flies. Because it was a testing island, and the code needed to be tested live somewhere.

We all should understand the risks when playing on a testing island. I believe it's pretty clear, as I recall reading somewhere about how testing islands differed, and how I should play there only after recognizing that I could have everything I worked for on such an island evaporate to nothing.

Also, you can take a deep breath because in all likelihood we'll never have an Invasion-like in-game event, at least in the same form like the 4th Invasion, again.

Invasions have nothing to do with being a testing island. Nobody is complaining about it being a testing island. I rather preffer it, in fact, as stable islands are always locked way too far behind.

« on: June 11, 2011, 02:49:16 AM »
I don't think whining about invasions on BT are justified. Wasn't it clear, from the beginning (it used to be the "New World") that it would be a temporary continent? As much as I hated that idea I kept that in my mind: eventually it would sink to the bottom of the ocean.

Which is a shame, because for a very long time I found BT to be the most fun continent of BM.

I've never heard of it being labeled as temporary.

And while some whining is about how hard they are (which is completely dumb considering most realms survived mostly intact the last two invasions), most are about how fun (or not) (some aspects of) the invasions are. This is a game, and so I don't think it's unfair of players that have their chars receive a bashing ask that it at least be done in a more entertaining way. We are, after all, *playing a game*. Something we'll stop if we aren't enjoying ourselves, as games that aren't fun are pointless.

And the invasions were not anywhere near perfect, and a lot of little things done differently would have made a lot of players feel a lot more satisfied in both cases, if you ask me.

@Chenier
I can understand your disillusionment. Perhaps I should clarify here that when I want heathens, I'm hoping that any conflict will be more than who-has-the-higher-preaching-skill. My desire is to create a compelling and fun IC religion, not to just have heaps of big temples and regions with 99% followers.

That was mine as well. My vision hasn't changed, just my enthusiasm. Hence why next time around I won't even bother founding it via game mechanics, but will do it purely through RP as it was in the good old days. Priests are easier to handle with non-priests than with priests anyways, unless you are a total panzy.

Dwilight / Re: The Zuma
« on: June 11, 2011, 01:42:44 AM »
I have issues with people that spread misinformation about things as well. There were accompanying RP. Before during and after the event, including the march to the city when there may have only been one or two player characters to read the RPs. There was also discussion directly with some people within the realm at that time, which is the reason the Daimons left.
As I said. Everything has been done due to interaction with the players and anyone that implies anything different is not speaking true.

I believe I was greeted the daimons before they even entered out lands. One thing you should keep in mind when reading my posts is that I tend to overemphasize. My apologies, it's just stronger than me.

When I said "basically no interaction", I did not mean there were 0 messages or RPs. However, what was received was very short. A handful of one-liners, if I recall correctly, aside from the threat to Asriel and call for revenge for the insults (which came after the main acts). What I truly meant was that the RPs and messages coming from the Zuma was nowhere near satisfactory levels for the importance of the act, from an OOC perspective.

My expectations towards GMs is higher than towards players wielding equivalent power, as they were given power from above without building it up themselves, and as thus such an act can only be justified if it increases the overall fun for everyone and if this fun factor is properly maximized.

They won't, unless... There is a power bloc out there that isn't among the realms named. Just saying.  ;D

I don't see any power bloc as having both the interest and capacity to support the destruction of Aurvandil. And I consider Madina to be a pretty fragile realm to prey upon if so they insist. The way I see it, if Madina decides to go to war, both southern realms will die and everyone in the south will pay for it.

Though I'll be glad they'd have freed us from Too much peace, it's not something I want to see happening.
