Feature Requests / Individual Region/Duchy Shares
« on: May 14, 2014, 02:57:22 AM »
Title: Independent Shares

Summary: Shares that apply differently to each region/duchy, allowing dukes and rulers to demand varied shares from their vassals.

Details: The current system applies a single ducal/ruler share percentage to every region/duchy that applies. For example, every lord in the Duchy of Bob owes 8% of their tax income to their duke; every duke in the Kingdom of Joe owes 10% of their tax income to their ruler. This proposal seeks to implement the ability for dukes and rulers to levy shares in accordance with punitive practices, equitable practices, and arbitrary practices. By this, I mean Duke Billy of the Duchy of Bob should be able to demand a 50% share from Lord Jon, provided that Lord Jon insulted Duke Billy. However, Lord Chow (Duke Billy's other vassal) shouldn't be required to pay that same share. He should sit comfortably owing 10% of his tax income for his loyalty and good behavior. King George should be able to demand a larger share from the much wealthier Duchy of Lancaster, and alleviate the tax burden on the plodding Duchy of York. Mad King Aerys should be able to demand any share that pleases his insanity from Lord Tywin, Lord Mace, and Lord Hoster, be those shares 50%, 42%, and 25% respectively. Punitive, Equitable, and Arbitrary.

Benefits: A more realistic approach to shares and taxes that also promotes player interaction and conflict.

Possible Downsides/Exploits: Players acting on OOC enmity by taxing the players they are in disagreement with, despite lacking a valid RP reason.

Feature Requests / Feature Request: Ducal Bulletins
« on: August 03, 2013, 03:38:08 AM »
Title: Ducal Bulletins

Summary: The implementation of ducal bulletins, similar to government position bulletins (ruler bulletin, judge bulletin, banker bulletin, general bulletin,) that are restricted to each individual duchy. In other words, a bulletin that the duke from Duchy A controls for his lords and their knights to see. Members from Duchy B cannot see Duchy A's bulletin, but will be able to see their own.

Details: A duke gains the option under Commands to edit his ducal bulletin. The bulletin would show up under the information section, under Local Information (alongside the other bulletins.) I would prefer it being placed specifically underneath the army information link/above the other bulletins. This way it won't be forgotten about.

Benefits: The means to make available important information to lords and knights within a duchy, instead of having to issue repetitive messages. The ability to reinforce ducal entities from within, providing a solid base for creating ducal specific cultures. It would be another way to roleplay, posting RP information such as titular titles within a duchy, or other things along those lines. The possibility of strengthening the overall gameplay within a duchy the same way the other bulletins can strengthen a realm's gameplay.

Possible Exploits: Seeing as government members can write whatever they want (so to speak) in their own bulletins, dukes would be able to do the same. With that in mind, it is obviously prone to abuse. In addition, having these bulletins restricted to each duchy would limit the amount of people who could verify its contents and report them if need be. Perhaps implementing the ability for rulers to see each ducal bulletin would help. That would potentially remove the ability to organize rebellions with the ducal bulletin, but I suppose that's what the underground is for.

Other Games / Sign up for a CK2 multiplayer game!
« on: March 22, 2013, 08:57:28 PM »
Yes, I hijacked the last thread. So what?

Come one, come all to this incredibly awesome CK2 multiplayer bonanza!

Post your choice of realm/duchy/county, and what times you'll be available to play (if you already know.) I was thinking of starting this up as soon as possible, on a weekend preferably (?).
Concerning timezones, if there is a significant number of players in one timezone, we'll probably favor said timezone, dropping a few players in the process. We have to be able to play the game more than once a month.

Rules: No direct assassinations on other players. Only moderate use of the murder plot is allowed when trying to kill a PC. If you're unsure whether or not someone is a player, ask. We'll most likely pop an IRC channel up for this, although I believe you can type to one another in game. You can chose to be close or far away from others. You can be a vassal to another player or you can be their ruler. The choices are somewhat limitless!

I'll be choosing the Kingdom of Denmark as my realm.

List of Players:

Arundel (GMT -6): Denmark. Flexible hours. Seeing as I'll probably host on the meta server, I'll be available. Warning: Mid-April (10-25) I'll be unavailable: I've got finals then.

LGMAlpha (GMT -5): Toulouse.

Norrel (GMT -7): Irish Count Somewhere

Solari: Venice or Lombardy

Revan (GMT +0): Duchy of Apulia

Silverfire (GMT -5): Duchy of Barcelona or Doux of Adrianopolis

EDIT: I play with Sword of Islam and Legacy of Rome DLC's. I do believe, should anyone have the Republic as well or no DLC's, we can still play.

Roleplaying / The Blinding Ritual.

Alice was elated by Brantley's sudden burst of confidence. The gods had chosen right when they chose Brantley, she thought to herself. But her mood changed when the thought of her own sacrifice came to mind. Brantley was still in high spirits, and she was fearful of bringing him down. But there was no choice to be had, and she had to press on. She waved her hand half-reluctantly, gesturing two acolytes hidden in the shadows to reveal themselves.

As they approached Alice, she began to speak, "Vicar Brantley, I beseech you to maintain your composure for what I am about to do."

When they reached her, they turned her round towards the glass windows, and gently forced her to her knees. Outside, the sun's colors sketched the sky, with beautiful streaks of pink, red, and orange; a clear sign that it would rise in a matter of minutes.

Alice continued, "I remember when I was just seventeen, riding my horse through the plains of Nid Tek. I was headed to Luria Vesperi to establish a new life: the old one destroyed by brothers and sisters of our once great kingdom. On my journey, I witnessed atrocities that transcended the mere expectations of war. Solarian and Luria Novan soldiers were jointly burning Pianese houses to the ground, butchering innocent farmers and villagers, while raping men, women, and children without remorse. I vowed that I would never participate in mans wars, and that I would kill King Tybalt, Duke Fulco, and Arbiter Malus righteously for their crimes. Only time offered me some peace of mind, the Gods their blessing, and for a while I was forgiving towards those I swore vengeance upon. Everything changed, however, when I met my future husband, Hendrick Madigan."

One of the acolytes stood by the window and carefully calculated the sun's progression, nodding to his partner. His partner nodded in return, and carried on to bind Alice's hands and feet. Both of them then looked to Alice for final approval, before proceeding any further.

"I - I witnessed terrible things. I saw a man fall victim to damnation and corruption so severe the underlords were repulsed by his actions. The Void would have nothing to do with him because his pure evil matched the Void's pure chaos. Yet he still loved me - he loved me so much that I became the fixture of his madness, the victim of his indulgences and abuse. He has changed since, but his actions still linger with me to this day."

Alice looked to both acolytes and nodded decisively. The first proceeded to firmly force her eyes open, gripping her tightly for control. The other retrieved a vial of orange sap from his robe and opened it.

"What I have seen has become my identity. My sacrifice then to the gods is that which sees, so I may truly achieve enlightenment."

The acolyte behind her titled her head back with his grip, allowing the other to dab one drop of sap in each eye. Immediately, Alice cried out in agony as the liquid burned the surface of her eyes. She struggled vehemently and tried prying her way out from her captor's grasp. But as the sun appeared in the sky above, Alice suddenly froze in place. Her nerves overloaded and paralyzed her: her body perfectly still like a stone statue. Her face was carved with the expression of overwhelming pain, agony, suffering, torture, and death, until she broke free with a deafening scream. She did so incessantly at the top of her lungs as she let out all her pain in one awe defining screech. The acolytes unbound her quickly and let her drop to the floor, away from the sun's divine punishment. She remained there, still and motionless, blind to the world around her.

The Desert of Silhouettes was much more massive and barren than the imagination could comprehend. Dunes of sand stretched over the horizon as far as the eye could see, and further more after that. You'd need gaze only a few moments before the mirage took over, fooling you into believing that the burning floor beneath your feet was actually a puddle of revitalizing water. And as if things weren't already tough, unknown sounds would slither here and squeal over there, startle you one minute then surprise you again the next. That second you thought you finally made flat footing on a carpet of sand, carefully balancing your weight in a sincere effort to keep your sudden streak going, ruined a second later as your foot suddenly sinks up to your hips in sand.

And there stood Alice, at the edge of hell under a tabernacle and its saving shade, away from the sun and from the desert's embrace. Her tiny holy shelter was almost its own separate world, but yet, still the same. Behind her, in a comfortable small chair, was the one peasant that occupied this entire stretch of nothingness; some could say he was its sole owner, able to survive here for decades on food - or something like food, if there ever was any - perhaps even his own excrement. He didn't smell great either, reeking the stench of a hundred years without bathing. So Alice made sure to keep her distance, but in all her effort, she couldn't hide from his eyes. They glossed over her with the most saturated lust known to man; he probably stopped bathing the day he last saw a woman.

Yet, for three days in a row, Alice had preached to this one man, twelve hours each day for the first two days, then ten hours the third with continuous failure. He merely sat there, mute, starring at some kind of angel of pleasure and beauty as she went on and on about flames and gods and pantheons and myths and the creation of the world and so on. All of it was chaotic noise to him, all he wanted was a rough tumble and a good night.

Alice looked back at him, not even sure if he spoke English or not, and asked him to leave when his ten hours drew to a close. She was fed up, tired, dehydrated, and simply unwilling to go on further. He seemed to understand the notion, especially with the large muscle man of a body guard - who accompanied Alice - pushing him towards the exit. He turned one last time to catch a glimpse of Alice's figure in all its glory, then, as if he had no shame or regrets, he went off back into the unknown hell, peeling away from vision over the last hill amongst a million more.

Far East Island / Lowered Population
« on: May 22, 2012, 08:29:22 PM »
When population was balanced on Dwilight - after the new estate system was implemented - I understood and agreed with the action. The city of Giask had a population nearing three times larger than all of Sorraine. But when it comes to the Far East, the population re-balance irks me. Ozrat had a population of 10,400, now its below 7,800. Colasan, which is a moderately large city, has a mere population of 9100. Masahakon, the largest city on the continent, has a flimsy population of 22,600, yet on the map it looks massive.

I feel the atmosphere could use a little more flavor, in terms of a more vibrant and populated culture.

Does anyone else agree, or am I crazy?

Wiki / Realm Box map fixing/editing
« on: August 25, 2011, 07:58:04 AM »
I have inputted large amounts of work into improving and revamping the Pian en Luries page, http://wiki.battlemaster.org/wiki/Pian_en_Luries, but have run into problems concerning the {Realm Box}. I've been trying to have the realm box show the map, and in my attempts, I have copied the |Maprealm = | from Terran/Caerwyn pages, appropriately renamed the map name (PeL, Pian en Luries, PianenLuries, Pian, etc...) and I simply cannot, for the life of me, get it to work. I was thinking the naming was wrong, but I've tried everything (including the file path that shows at the bottom of the box, on the finished page.) Forgive me for my inane knowledge of the wiki, if this is a simple wording issue, but I would appreciate help :).
