Beluaterra / Re: What did we lose? What did we gain? 4th Inv aftermath

Unlike some others, the Blood Cult did *not* want the continent to fall to any of the factions, and preffered to make them fight each other whenever possible. The Cult had grand ambitions, and the daimons taking everything over would have ruined that. Cultists were hardly the greater evil around.

Except for the Xerotl sect, that is. Our stance didn't change much from the third to the fourth...

Yeah, until Valachi decided to badmouth Sherilynn. Then the Blood Cult pretty much got slaughtered. Valachi Stefanovic obviously was executed. Vistuvis Adriddae was fed to minor daemons, Malfurion Stormrage, am I missing anyone?

Valachi had always viewed himself as an "avatar" of his god, and in the dogma of Xerotl's sect, Xerotl was a god who guarded the border between chaos and order. His rulership of the Netherworld was an attempt to prevent the sleeping beast from stirring. That is, to protect Man. Fun character.

I heard it was the Far East Island.  From what I understand, it didn't last long.

No, he's talking about Old Grekh.

...and that took a *great* deal of work to make it into what it became, and even then we discovered the "state religions" such as Order of the Golden Feather and that sham of a religion Enweil came up with were very, very, very difficult to penetrate.

Qyrvaggism, in Beluaterra, used to have holidays that were periodically celebrated, as well as rules on when wars were allowed to be fought. Not so anymore, at least as far as I can tell.

Qyrvaggism used to have a lot that it no longer does, so far as I can tell. It's somewhat disheartening to have seen such a well fleshed-out religion diminish like Qyrvaggism has.

I've always enjoyed Way of the Warrior Saints in Atamara as well, though I felt it was underused.

Which reminds me of the Barony's Hörgr of Makar, which is something I've always intended to flesh out myself or come up with a replacement... maybe it's time I got around to that...

Edit: Good lord, the page still has the filler text I used when I first created it!

That's why I was considering something along the same lines as BM—or, perhaps more accurately, like WI.  Something where each player can log on, do what they have to do, and when everyone's gotten their stuff in, things can move along.

The basic idea would be that the DM has control over everything but the characters' own persons—and that includes having control over the characters' positions, so they can't go gadding about without him being able to react—and players essentially "propose" actions, which the DM can then confirm, modify, or deny.  Everyone, of course, can talk all the time.  Talking is a free action ;)

So if all the people are online at once, things can move pretty quickly, with everyone moving, the DM confirming actions, and the whole play flowing fast.  If people can't get online together for a while, they can still play at their own pace, and the DM can make an executive decision to just let people who don't show up for a week follow the party mutely.

By the way, this is exactly how Fantasy Grounds 2 and MapTool work (two popular tools for dnd-over-the-net).

I've had mixed experiences as far as groups go; actual pen and paper groups have been difficult to find in the area I live, so much of my experience has been in play-by-post forum games. Of perhaps ten, two of those campaigns were what I would call anything even near "succesful", with only one still ongoing. And then there was that group Anaris tried to put together where everyone else buggered off...

Forget that online crap!

We're talking about real Dungeons and Dragons here, with the wizards and the wacky and everything in between.

How many here play?

Can you confirm it happens on a browser that isn't from an unstable testing branch?

I actually cannot. All the browsers I have installed are dev branch installations :-/

I've had an account for years, but stopped scrobbling a few years ago and recently started again. Interesting to see how my tastes have changed.

It seems as though every page I go to only half-renders the first time I view it, but renders fully if refreshed.

Using Chrome 11.0.686.3 dev.

Additionally, post preview creates a large amount of whitespace between the top of the page and the beginning of the actual preview.

You don't see me complaining about needing more, smaller realms, do you?  8)

I'm perfectly happy with there being larger realms.

Yes, they have more to lootcan pay more.  ;)
