Sometimes you want a ruler to be weak. Always having strong leaders doesn't really provide realism or diversity

Of course, but there's plenty of weak rulers out there. I don't think they need help of experienced players pretending to be weak :P

Referendums are almost always a bad idea to make decisions. It makes your leaders look weak, and causes more division than unity. I feel it's usually best to offer the chance to discuss and then decide, with an honest evaluation afterwards to see what went good/bad.

The only place were PvE is still viable is in the western section of Dwilight, bringing us back to the initial topic. So when do we set sail? :)

That sounds like a very plausible work around. Certainly lower maintenance than constant bank transfers but I kind of like tying the stipend to the whole vassal/liege agreement.

That being said, this has some seriously cool potential. Set up Different ranks with different funding levels. One level grants 100G, the next 75G, 50G, 25G and so on. Have each knight of the realm who needs the boost join and get assigned to the appropriate level based on how much money the need to maintain a decent unit. Sponsors just keep pumping money into it.

This could even make it possible to pay knights to serve and fight even without a lord or estate (hedge knights). A lot of fun potential here!

The main drawbacks are that guild treasuries are tied to chapter houses and money transfers are not automatic. E.g Sponsor Kepler will have to put money in Chapter Keplerstan (manually) and Knight Hedgehog will have to withdraw (manually) from the same guildhouse.

Also you'll lose (a tiny bit) on guild maintenance. And good luck making your sponsor pay on time :P I've had a few guilds set up for reasons of money distribution, and honestly I think it's easier to just send over bonds. The Guild approach is nocer, though.

After IG discussion the Isle of Libbidizzed (or however you write it :P) seems like the most viable target. Also because monsters can only reach it slowly through the sea routes. Settling on the mainland will be a lot more difficult.

Do we have any intel on the Isle? I know a Fissoan character is going to scout Candiels to have an idea, at least.

I like them, though I may not agree with them all.

I second this.

Also couldn't you offer stipends through guild infrastructure? Sponsors put in what they want to spread out, members come to the guild house to take what they need

Glaumring is realy skewing the image here. SA is not everywhere in Dwilight but Luria, Luria is not the only realm that is a catalyst to change. Many stories are happening around the continent as we speak, and just because not all of them are grand it doesn't mean they aren't worthwhile.

Besides, we've seen Luria trying to fragment. I see no relevant difference between the identities shown today by the different Duchies, and the identities of Luria Vesperi, Pian and Luries, Solaria and Luria Nova of the past.

Luria has a strong core story, which is great. I'd love to have a character there someday and see what it's all about. But it's still Luria. Predictably unpredictable as always.

I'm just disagreeing on the premise that automation leaves to more time for other things and therefor is a good thing. I think the lack of automation is what stimulates interaction, free choice and especially the occasion for things to go wrong.

Imagine following armies was automated. People wouldn't have to sign in every turn to press the travel button, we would have more coordinated and bigger battles, and players could focus on writing battle roleplays! Great, no? /s :)

Can you find a region with forts still intact? i would have thought they'd all be home by now.

That means the monsters actively raze fortifications? Or do they decay by themselves, even without battles occuring?

In any case, I mean to remember the monster invaders completed actual takeovers, so that would give them the walls, no?

13 out of 29 units have 5 men or less. A bit less than half, looked like a bit more than half when I first looked at it.

I'd gamble that the units spawn as bigger units, but starve over time.

Luria Nova could clear Paisly on their own, if they wanted to. I'm convinced that if the other regions are like this, reclaiming the coastal cities and townslands would be achievable.

Holding them is the real challenge. Every day there's a battle, the fortifications cannot be repaired, so they decay over time. Sorties are required to provide some breathing room, but they leave the occupants with even more casualties than when they try to hold the walls.

Our best hope, I think, is for a region with short supply lines (Candiels) or with a donut region around it with intact fortifications (and no horde of monsters of itself).

I quite figured as much! The alternative simply did not fit the image I have built up in my head of Shizzle the Fair.

Ahaha, that's the first time I see my name without my other epiteth: -ly Ignorant

Or... Lord 1, your region sucks but it's there and it's ours so I'm not taxing you but Lord 2, you're region's rich and I want a piece of it!

Which is where percentages come in.

Besides, you could tax the whole Duchy at the highest rate, and use the extra money to give presents to the Lords that you do like :) Or buy their grain for a higher price. Or pay for their infrastructure.
