In my opinion, if any action is taken against the player of Zuma, we should also heavily penalise all marshals who order late turn moves.

Beluaterra / Fifth Invasion
« on: December 02, 2011, 02:43:06 PM »
For those of you not on the BM Facebook page, Tom posted up these videos. He also said they had something to do with BM.

Within Temptation - Stand My Ground
http://youtu.be/4sCkAvh50Vs

This video screams invasion to me. Just look at the lyrics.

It's all around, getting stronger,
coming closer, into my world.
I can feel that it's time for me to face it,
can I take it?
Though this might just be the ending
of the life I held so dear.
But I won't run,
there's no turning back from here.

So fifth invasion time  ;D could this be the last one?

The second video also runs on similar themes.

http://youtu.be/0Oll_ZaE-r8

So face the dark
And I'll teach you about fire

In the
blink of an eye

Now drink the cyanide!

The worlds collide
And you know
That it's pure filth
That I hide

On these plains there's a burning ruin

That must be found
On these plains there's a demon that sleeps

It must be unbound

So strong references to daimons and the cleansing fire in the second video, along with a passing mention of the blight.

And maybe I am overanalysing somewhat.. But perhaps the drink cyanide is a reference to the undead.

Of course, we already heard about the priests of Daimon worship who have started their witchcraft again... Maybe this is the confirmation.

Rushes off to ennoble his advy.

Helpline / Exile
« on: November 26, 2011, 07:29:53 AM »
I had some questions about exile.

  • Can a judge, once exiled, use his abilities as a judge?
  • Can an exiled knight protest?

Thanks!

Feature Requests / Change in the rebellion code
« on: November 20, 2011, 08:44:54 AM »
I am currently involved in a rebellion, and I noted a few points that I felt do not really make sense-

Point one- One of the principal factors leading up to the rebellion was the banning of my Duke character from the realm. So the rebellion succeeded, and my character was unbanned, rejoined the realm, reappointed duke. He assigned all his knights to armies, but can't assign himself,as he is "too new" to the realm. He cannot access the character list, because he is new. He cannot disagree, for he is new. He cannot join any rebellion, because he is new. I raise the points because even though the rebellion is over, the civil war continues, and my character is effectively nerfed from using some potent tools at his disposable, because the game doesn't recognise the past IRL year of his being in the realm. Right now he is rolling with it, but it's sort of silly that one of the ringleaders of the rebelling forces can't even join the rebellion in a official manner.

Point two- I remember that whenever a rebellion fails, there is a nifty tool that can be used to ban all rebels. Why not give victorious rebels a similar tool, ban all loyalists? Let me explain a little more the situation in the realm- which has pretty much split the entire realm in half. There is a large chunk of nobles supporting the rebels, and a large chunk supporting the loyalists. When the rebels won the "rebellion" after displaying their military superiority, they were immediately protested out of office by the loyalists who had been beaten on the field. Now I remember that when you are banned, you are prohibited from protesting on grounds that as you are a traitor, no one gives a damn what you think. Now given that in a rebellion, the loyalist forces have been numerically overwhelmed, and the palace overrun by rebels, who gives a damn about the protests of the loyalists, whose violent protest against the rebels was put down? The code as exists now just ensures that each wide can keep forcing the other out of office, and neither side can have own of their own as judge long enough to ban the opponents. So you have a stalemate, a perpetual civil war, until one side just gets fatigued of it, which really kills the RP for both sides involved.

Feature Requests / Battle Simulator
« on: August 25, 2011, 12:58:12 PM »
I remember that a while ago (maybe a year or two ago), i heard rumors of a battle simulator that used to exist in the past. You could input a few details, formations and settings, and you would get a summary that was as good as a battle report. Did this ever exist? Seems dead useful for a newbie learning about how battles and settings work, and for a marshal planning for battle. It would be an *awesome* addition to the military advisor tab.

edit: Just saw the other topic where something similar was mentioned. Instead of something full blown where one could add every single unit in battle, perhaps one or two units per side? Its all well and good to read stuff on the wiki, but if a new player could actually set formations and match his troop against another, it would be not just cooler but more fun to learn battle tactics and such.

BM General Discussion / Adventurer Game: Searching for items
« on: August 11, 2011, 06:41:19 PM »
13 hour search for "pretty plenties".

You wander around the rural and...

1st hour: You find nothing of value.
2nd hour: You find nothing of value.
3rd hour: You find nothing of value.
4th hour: You are disturbed by peasants and militia and can not gather anything.
5th hour: You are disturbed by peasants and militia and can not gather anything.
6th hour: You find nothing of value.
7th hour: You find nothing of value.
    8th hour: You find nothing.
9th hour: You are disturbed by peasants and militia and can not gather anything.
10th hour: You have found a piece of moonstone.
11th hour: You are disturbed by peasants and militia and can not gather anything.
12th hour: You find nothing of value.
13th hour: You find nothing of value.

I am not a usual advy player, playing one regularly after a couple of months. But in the dozen odd searches i've done for items, i have never received more than 3 items, and a search like the one above is the norm.  Is there really a difference between pretty plenties, balanced and boring, and rare and risky? I have not noticed it.

Far East Island / Down with the peace keepers!
« on: March 27, 2011, 05:12:40 PM »
Its BattleMaster! Why do we have realms threatening others with war if they get into war?! ???

Case in point is Cathay, which has declared that it will attack either Arcaea or Greater Aenilia if either one goes to war with the other. If Cathay nobles wants to get bored training in their capital, so be it, but dont keep other realms from going to war.

I say Arcaea and Greater Aenilia should group together and destroy Cathay, and let us in Arcachon battle those Ohnarians alone.  ;D

Feature Requests / Have armies carry food
« on: March 22, 2011, 06:46:32 AM »
I know to some extent this is already enabled- If you go to a starving region and have a caravan of food, you feed your men from the caravan.

If this concept could be taken to the next level, we could have armies carrying food around with them. What happens now, is when one realm invades another, their troops steal food from the region they are in to feed the soldiers. Unfortunately, this happens implicitly. AFAIK, there is no notice saying that enemy realm stole and ate X number of our bushels when they invaded. If a feature like this was added, if the enemy hadn't brought a caravan of food with them, they could *explicitly* (perhaps a button under loot) decide to take 5-10 bushels to feed each of their units. This would generate a notice to realm that the enemy had looted X bushels.

Why? It adds flavor to the game. The invaded people can have propaganda saying the enemy stole X bushels. On longer trips, invaders have to bring  caravan trail of goods. This also makes it easier for smaller realms, while giving larger realms some more challenge. Treaties can be signed between allies on whether or not their food can be eaten while their allies armies are passing through (gives passage rights a whole new bite).  :D

Feature Requests / Give militiamen banners
« on: March 19, 2011, 02:42:56 PM »
With armies having awesome little banners, it does seem awkward for militia not to have any. Perhaps you could let the General set the militia banner for the entire realm?
