BM General Discussion / Re: Memorable Heroic Deaths

The guy in Avalon, who said he'd chase my character down until he died, which he promptly did the next turn change (a mere few minutes later, too, I think). That was pretty funny. Didn't have to worry about that oath of vengeance for long.

...That is glorious. Ironic, yes. hilarious, absolutely. Yet glorious above all.

Now, if only you had made some retaliatory statement prior to his demise. You could plausibly get away with a "Huh. Guess I scared him to death?"

This would be a great way to share and preserve multi-party RP's, as well.

So many potential uses... Propaganda, announcing duels, wedding invitations, elections, debates, military movements, religious affairs, etc.

If there are internal/external newspapers for guilds/religions/nations... So many options!

I have a feeling there will be a significant uptick in weddings, parties, and drunken duels. :)

Hell, I'll actually go through with a marriage this time.

Yep. It was kind of communicated to all the Princes, plus Selenia's back (unpaused), plus other things.

Sigrid's a whole different beast than magnus, though. Kind of a cross between alura, selenia, rynn, and magnus, if that makes sense.

(her mother) Alura's fiercely loyal sense of duty, selenia's scheming, rynn's politicking (bastard's father) and magnus' passion. More to-the-point than magnus could ever be by design, pragmatic conservative like alura, and... "innovative" like selenia. Starkly non-tyrant compared to selenia, and far more willing to play the political game than Magnus, however.

Lets see what shenanigans happen this time.

</Devil's Advocate>

...Yet you must remember that Dwilight is also the *only* truly RP-enforced island. For the more hardcore type of player, moving to another island would be a significant downgrade. Honestly, until Xavax/EC, that was my own experience with every character outside of Dwilight since 2011.

? Don't see anyone being an ass about anything ??? Discussion has been pretty neutral and objective, unless I'm missing something.

Can't wait to prove that statement as patently false ;)

It could bounce back from undeath in a variety of ways. The most obvious scenario requiring some benevolent benefactor giving us a patch of dirt from which to begin anew. Once we have a jar patch of dirt to call our own, Xavax young and old will flock to its banner.

Remember the "rules" we made during the First Council of Xavax, back when the realm's identity was under rapid-fire development. (before the 2nd wave that included Dodger and the rest)

</paraphrase> "All those who came to Xavax bear the blood of Xavax. Thus, their dynasties are Xavax. Their offspring are Xavax. Upon marrying Xavax, one's spouse becomes Xavax. Children of their union are born Xavax. Distant relatives bear a spark of Xavax, and with proper oath, become fully Xavax. Those deified in grand acts for the glory of Xavax become paragons of Xavax. Etc etc."

...I/we sort of-kind of-maybe-totally designed Xavax to be a viral memetic construct that infects everything it touches.

Xavax = heroin/cancer. You can get rid of us, but we'll always worm our way back into existence - if only as the echo of a memory. ;)

Ironic, how we find ourselves right back where we started. Hey, that's what Xavax culture has always been about :) From cinder to spark, and spark unto ash; the Phoenix Flame burns evermore.

Quote
"In the loss of our homes, we first lay shattered. Our very existence torn from the mantle of creation, yet we still lived. We few who hailed from opposite corners of the globe, discovered a purpose in these lands. A purpose in one another. We birthed the spirit of Xavax - we embodied the Phoenix in eternal rebearth from the ashes of what came before... Just as each of you now embody the spirit, the face, the voice, the essence of Xavax. The Phoenix of Xavax is the divine reflection of the chaos that brought us together, reforged by the ferocity, malleability, conviction, and righteousness of our greater purpose - a purpose each one had to find within himself. Birthed in the moment your spirit decided upon leaving the old world behind... Tempered by the uncertainty of thy voyages... Its flame kindled by the first pangs of hope felt upon smelling, hearing, and finally looking upon solid ground... It was born in the first child-like steps you took upon the shores of Xavax - whose innocence bore the seed of thy purpose. We are the product of the spirit that saw us torn from our homes, only to discover another lay waiting in the distance. A species of divine irony that somehow manages to infect us with hope. Desperate, glorious hope. In honor of the irony of our fates... that birthed the very spirit of the phoenix in all of us. Xerarch... "walker of earth ; land-treader ; Originating from or upon dry land."... our previously-dry empires... soon to lie submerged beneath the vast oceans. It points to our origin, our history of hailing from existing realms, from stability and education and civilization, followed by the loss of all that we are... Yet in honoring our spirits, we re-discovered the meaning of civilization, culture, faith, and purpose in a totally alien setting - with complete strangers to make matters even more complicated - for the mutual benefit or guaranteed destruction of all..."

...You could always unpause your Xavaxian and take part in the island-wide plotting ;) Unfortunately, unless you happen to be in Sirion, you won't arrive in time for the grand Xavax wedding of Duke Serpentis and Lady A'lia, which has all the big Xavax influentials RP'ing the night away. I think even Selenia's there, along with all the former council members who yet live?

There was this GX guy, I believe he was Xerarch before Selenia, he died on the battlefield which was one of the events that caused creation of a new religion.

Later Selenia dueled Gustaf Essenhorn (killer of said Hero), but ye ol' Gustaf survived.

Then Selenia died and came back, which caused almost everything that happened afterwards on EC happen.

On other continents there was Mariah Greyson - founder of evil cult - got flayed alive after the funniest manhunt I've experienced (cheers to those participating). Which btw happened by the hand of a guy who's now hated by half the continent.

Oh and there was heroic Gilth Gildre death, can't recall anything in particular about it though.

All in all those are only the ones that happened during my brief adventure with BM. I'm sure older fellas have more to tell. I believe not enough fuss is made about heroic deaths.

Yeah, no. I was First Xerarch, before Selenia. Don't think I ever got around to making Magnus a hero. Or did I? Regardless, must've been someone else you've mixed up.

(Magnus Aurea, elected first king, created the whole Xerarch/imperial phoenix cult thing for shirts and giggles, not expecting it to take off like a medieval crack epidemic.)

I'd go so far as to say the game mechanics are particularly prohibitive toward such clustering. Ah, gentle equilibrium... Too much clustering and you get ultra-dense mega-realms and a whole lot of nothing beside. Too little clustering and you get a bunch of piss-poor, starving, undermanned micro-realms.
