Work in Progress / The City States - Chapter 1 (in LotW)
« on: January 06, 2018, 05:39:32 PM »
It was another busy day in Lerikion. Its harbour was full of people from other places. Some sailed from as far north as 'Irkhen'[Create Settlement, 1 Prime] while some came from 'Tascrig'[Create Settlement, 1 Prime] which was just across 'the Lerikh Sea'[Name Sea, 1 Prime]. They all gathered in the central square where the statue of Lerikhir looked over them to trade goods they brought from different parts of the world.

Among the ships docked in the harbour, Irkhenic ships stood out the most. They were larger and coloured from top to bottom with strong yet bright colors. Each ship had different markings which looked pretty but made little sense for others but Irkhenic people. Irkhenic people always brought largest furs you could find in Lerikion. Furs of large and terrifying beasts were popular among men while furs of smaller yet silky creatures were popular among women.

People who owned most unique looking ships were Tascrigians. They were closer so they could afford to travel back and forth often. Their ships were simple but unique looking. The bottom of the ships were flat which slowed the ships but provided unmatched stability for navigating seas that were not too deep. Their ships could carry more cargoes than anyone in the vacinity of Lerikion so they made excellent traders. Which also made them rather unpleasant to bargain with as not many could get them to lower their prices. But you could find almost anything you want from them except furs. Tascrigians often tried to make Irkhenic people to sell their furs to them instead but Irkhenic people only traded with Lerikans as they did not trust Tascrigians.

Lerikans were master smiths and sculptors. From the mines around Lerikion, they could get the best ores to forge the best weapons and armours. Irkenic people traded large quantity of finest furs for sharpest and hardest weapons and armours while Tascrigians traded for their spices and silks for finest marble sculptures.

Everyone thought the day was going to end with usual rants from grumpy Tascrigians being upset over Irkenic people's refusal to trade with them. But before the sun was down, a group of heavily armed soldiers with the Tascrigican insignia led by a Lerikan soldier rushed to the largest building in Lerikion, the Obsidian Hall. The Obsidian Hall was built based on the local legend regarding the birth of Lerikhir who was said to have emerged from the pitch black darkness to mold men out of nothing to build Lerikion. All the precious black stones Lerikans could find were used to build it and now served as the administrative heart of Lerikion.

When the soldiers reached the Grand Halls, the only room in the building to be built with white marbles, they were greeted by a man whose name became the name of the very land they stood.

"Lerikhir, these men have brought strange news from Tascrig."

The Lerikan soldier who led Tascrigian soldiers stepped aside. One of the Tascrigians stepped forward and took his helmet off.

"Tascrig got split in half just a day ago."

Lerikhir leaned forward.

"Split in half? How did that happen?"

"The ground shook all day. It started weak then by night it shook so violently the ground cracked open and the city got split in half. And then..."

The soldier looked back at his comrades then turned back to meet Lerikhir's eyes.

"We saw a crevasse of endless depth filled with glowing black stones."

"Glowing black stones? I have never heard of such things. How can black stones even glow?"

"The stones glowed like as if they held stars inside them."

"Can something like that really exist? It sounds too unbelievable."

"You know something similar, Lerikhir. The sacred mountain has two glowing red rocks at the top."

"That is true. I had forgotten about the sacred mountain. I wonder if they are related. Let's send some men to check both pla-"

Before Lerikhir could finish his sentence, the ground started to shake. Within half a mintue it became violent enough to terrify everyone in the city. Lerikhir and others quickly rushed outside as soon as they felt the shake. By the time they reached outside the shaking had stopped.

But their hearts which pounded against their chests almost jumped out when they witnessed something that defied everything they knew about the world. The sacred mountain with two red rocks one of his advisers mentioned was flying over Lerikion except it did not look anything like he remembered. Its two red rocks were glowing but it had wings large enough to cover the sky from Lerikhir's sight. People screamed in terror and tried to find a place to dock from debris that fell from the sky as the mountain flew over them. It quickly flew over Lerikion and headed toward the direction of Tascrig.

"What on earth is going on today. First glowing black rocks and now a flying mountain? I must be dreaming..."

Lerikhir mumbled as others panicked around him.

(The flying mountain is not actually a mountain flying over the city. It is just Astalos flying over the city. As for Prime Source, it is a large crack full of glowing black stones that resemble the night sky. The crack is large enough to split a city/town/settlement in half)

Q&A / Legends of the World and WIP

So if a story is accepted in WIP but is not posted in Legends of the World, how do we write stories regarding those stories?

Do we only consider stories that are actually in Legends of the World?

<The Shapers of the First Continent - Chapter 1>

Astalos' journey came to an end when it reached a blue sphere. It was the place which  attracted it since its awakening. The sphere was full of water but Astalos could see the earth underneath the body of water.

It was the first time Astalos was in contact with all four elements at once. It was very strange to see all the elements in such close proximity from each other.

Astalos originally was going to leave after finding out the source of the strange attraction but witnessing the elements working in such a strange harmony intrigued it greatly. It was confused by the thought of feeling intrigued as it had never felt such thing before. After all, it was simply a part of the whole up until recently. It could not understand something it had felt for the first time and was frustrated by the uncertainty of this new found feeling. When it became too overwhelming for Astalos, it looked around to let its frustration out. It wielded its power to pull the element of earth underneath the ocean to break the harmony of the elements which caused strange feelings it could not understand.

Astalos felt the element of earth bending before its power but its power was not enough to rip the element completely apart from others. In fact it was only enough to pull a large portion of the earth closer to the element of air. The earth stabilized and formed a large flat land that stretched from where Astalos was floating to the end of the horizon.[Create Continent, 5 Purity]

Dazzled by the change it made, Astalos came down from the sky to touch what it had just pulled from the bottom of the ocean. Some parts of the element were softer while other parts were harder. Astalos sat on the nearby where the element of earth felt more condensed to touch the element for the first time. Upon touching the earth, Astalos was engulfed by the elements around it, gaining itself a physical form. The element of earth formed its body, fire its eyes, water its veins, and air its voice. With its newly created body, Astalos spoke for the first time.[Create Physical Form, 1 Prime]

"Ardein"

The word was carried by the element of air across the world and later became the name for the continent Astalos stood on.

Astalos flew over its creation watching over the vast brown that was pulled from the bottom of the vast blue. Due to being forcefully pulled out from the depth, Ardein was bleeding red  in various places. Red shores turned brown and black as they met crashing blue, creating steam to fog the shorelines. The view was seen differently in Astalos' eyes. In its eyes, earth it pulled from the depth was impure. It was already mixed with air and fire. They were simply trapped and were surrounded by earth.

Upon touching water, trapped elements were released and were mixed with water. Unlike the time when Astalos' body was created, it was more violent. Fire lifted water and mixed it with air while water pulled fire out of earth. Air broke free of earth leaving holes in earth. It all happened at once and to Astalos it looked like elements were dancing together. This mesmerizing view made Astalos stretch its right fingers to reach for it, touching the elements with its purity unconsciously[Create Life, 5 purity].

The elements gathered quickly around purity and formed a black sphere which continued to absorb elements around it. It pulsed like a beating heart and started to radiate heat. Astalos watched as the sphere grew from a pebble to a mountain. After a week, the sphere stopped growing and began to crack. Cracks spread until finally a chunk broke off from the bottom of the sphere.

On the first day, large chunks broke off from the sphere and formed large animals. They quickly moved away from the sphere and spread throughout the land
On the second day, top of the sphere broke apart and formed birds. They too flew away from the sphere and spread across the land.
On the third day, waves that were hitting the sphere broke a large portion close to the sea. The larger pieces became whales while smaller pieces became smaller fishes to fill the vast ocean.
On the fourth day, a strong wind carved bits off of the sphere all day. Small grain sized pieces broke off from the sphere and formed insects which rode the wind to spread far and wide.
On the fifth day, the sphere cooled and started to harden. Astalos watched the sphere all day but nothing happened. When the sphere stopped beating, Astalos tabbed the sphere with its fingertip and a tiny portion of prime entered the sphere which made the sphere beat once again.[Create Hero, 1 prime]
On the sixth day, from the spot where Astalos' fingertip touched, a crack formed. From the crack a man emerged. He began to pull more people from the sphere. However, unlike the first man who came out of the sphere on his own, people who were pulled from the sphere collapsed and panted heavily on the ground. They simply watched as the first man pulled more humans from the sphere. As more humans were pulled out of the sphere, it shrunk and when it reached a human size, it simply became another human. The first man who pulled others out of the sphere walked around, helping people stand on their two feet.

Over two weeks, led by the first man, they built a small settlement which they named it 'Lerikion'[Create Place, 1 prime] after the first man who named himself 'Lerikhir'.[/color]
