I've got a question about storing energy.

Is the limitation of "item/artifact or own body" a strict one?  More specifically, could one use something more like a specially prepared location as an "item"?

I'm thinking of something like a sacred grove or spring, or a stone circle.  Something vaguely Druidic.

Also, could one sort of combine the two, and store the energy in an animal—a familiar of sorts?

Personally?  I'd love to see a map of Europe.  Maybe the Mediterranean and parts of the Middle East/Northern Africa, but most of Europe.  I would love to see how we could change history.   I would love to see Undead and Monsters replaced with Bandits and Mercenaries.

A map of Europe, at proper BattleMaster scale, would be gigantic.

we tried that, it wasn't well-received. You're a minority there, sorry.

A lot of the complaints, though, were that mortality was being imposed upon people suddenly.

If a continent were created that was to have mortality active from the start, then everyone could factor that into their decision about whether to go there in the first place.

I really think it would make a big difference.

A bug is preventing looting.

Is it still? Tom thinks he fixed that.

So saying 'merde' instead of '!@#$' is allowed? :)

I think people swear in all times and all cultures. Sometimes more vulgar than others, but we all do it...

I would say more like, "By the excrement of a thousand cows!"

Sounds cooler that way, too.

This almost sounds like one of those Lateral Thinking puzzles.  And if it were one of those, I would be asking:

1) "The people here do not like being ruled by us" - Who are "us"?  The realm?  The government?  Council Members?  The local lord?  The local knights?
2) "The people here do not like being ruled by us" - Who are "the people here"?  Those in Pehk?  Those in Pehk and surrounding areas?  Those in the Duchy of Iato?

It would, for example, not be contradictory to say "The people here in Pehk do not like being ruled by Lord Scufflebottom, even though they are bursting with pride to be part of a realm with a comically long name".  Or to say "The people here in the Duchy of Iato do not like being ruled by a realm with such a long name, because although the people of Pehk think it's amusing and fantastic, the majority of people in the rest of the duchy just think it's a silly name invented by a ruler who wanted to see how long and unpronouncable a realm name he could make without being protested out of office".

Looking at the precise language and trying to suss further meaning out of it is not likely to be terribly fruitful at the moment.

Gather some more stats, and see what patterns emerge.  You clearly don't have nearly enough datapoints yet.

I don't think there's any rule anywhere that says you can't curse or do things with your character that might be considered 18+.

You can swear on any continent you want.

You will get reported for vulgarity, and lose honour for it, of course.  Because what we think of swear words now are the kind of words that only peasants would have used in medieval times.

That's why they are swear words now. Because modern English is descended from the languages used by the conquering French Normans and the conquered Anglo-Saxons.  Words nobles used became "high" and scientific words; words peasants used became crude, rude words.

This is part of the switchover from the old-fashioned ugly code to the new Doctrine-based OO code.

As we switch individual scripts over to the new code, the status bar will work normally for those scripts.

Once we have everything switched over, the status bar will work normally everywhere again.

Not sure what would work well within the game yet, but would this be a reasonable balance?  'Cause I can certainly see the idea of "Well, if you kill someone, that's usually not what you want, and it has ugly nonmagical consequences" not being nearly enough deterrent to balance the difference in difficulty...

Ooh, unless the consequences were explicitly that—that killing someone using magic always attracts more notice and gets you into more hot water, no matter the circumstances.  Cosmic justice of a sort.

Now, perhaps this doesn't fit SM3 properly (I'm still getting a handle on it), but what if killing someone magically, whatever the actual method, has a deeper price?

Like, it slowly corrupts you or something.  Or maybe takes away some of your own life force each time.

Alternatively: allow an adventurer to change nationality, much like nobles can.

They can.

Also, this is almost completely offtopic.  Please do not hijack threads with such offtopic rants.  You are more than welcome to post your own thread in the relevant forum.

Insufficient data.

What are the stats of the SF center?

What continent is it on?

Is that "9k pop" indicating that the town has 9000 peasants and is at full population?  If not, then what is the current/full population?

Is that script run daily?

I was at 12 points for a very long time, just got a 13th which I maintained for a week or so - then suddenly dropped to 9.

It is—but judging from the number of people who autopaused and were autoremoved in the past couple of days, I think something must have been broken in it for at least a couple of weeks.

The odd thing is, we didn't change anything in the cleanup script at that time.

Alrighty, so, this is one of those things that may be a bug and may be intended.  More information on the specific situations where it is changed is needed, so!  If you could all post (to this thread) your family page links, and what the change in character limits was, that would be very helpful.

To be clear: there's definitely a bug going on somewhere for this to happen.  The absolute number of character slots you have at this moment in time, however, may be correct or may be bugged.
