I think it was about a year and a quarter ago now that the D&D group I had started putting together from BM players fell apart, due to most of them going partially or completely inactive.

I've got a low-level campaign that would only need minimal dusting off to be possible to start, but I'm afraid I don't have a lot of time just at the second.  Summer will be better for that, now that I'm in a job on an academic schedule again.

That sounds like it's a bit over-complex, at least for now.  I'm not going to rule out any of that for possible future development, but for the moment, I think what we have will probably do.

Bedwyr,

Have you thought about a structure similar to a Japanese Council of Reagents, where acting out of step might lead to being cannibalized by your peers?  It was much safer to be king of a small piece of the world, in other words.

Council of Reagents, huh?  Well, they'd better have good chemistry, or it'll never work out.

...the Anaris family is full of bloodthirsty savages without a conscience, sense of refinement, or culture.

Bloodthirsty and lack of conscience I will cop to on Alanna's part, but while she's more than happy to see anything bad happen to D'Hara, she's never actually had any part in any such occurrence...

...yet.

And trees. An unfortunately large amount of trees.

Och, ye gotta beware of th' leafy bastards!

Pretty much because it's the kind of thing everyone would know.

All units are going to have some kind of army banner; it's part of how you know who you're supposed to kill, and who you're not.

IE is not supported.

If we can make things work in IE by the addition of a line or two and no real effort, we'll do it, but we're not going to bend over backwards to support a browser that deliberately breaks the standards.

Come now, Vellos, have you been listening to Giaskian tales?

Alanna is no more a tyrant than any Monarch.  And like any Monarch, people who disagree with her policies cry "tyranny" and try to take power for themselves.

5874
No, that doesn't follow at all.

The point would be to have a banner for militia, who otherwise could not have any.

Nothing personal, but I see comments like "Too many big realms, we need more/smaller realms" all the time. What people really mean when they say that is that *everyone else* needs to give up some of their duchies to make more, smaller realms while we stay the same.

OK, so, when's Darka going to split up?  ;D

Pian en Luries, having finally rid itself of scheming traitors (there may still be a few disgruntled among us, but I wouldn't classify them as "scheming"), is making war on Fissoa.  Fun times :)

I'd be happy to play when I've got time.  Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of time usually ;)

Weekend mornings (between 8:30AM and 10:30AM EST) are usually a pretty good time, and the times when my wife goes to China on business I don't usually have much else to do, so they're usually good  :-\

For alignment purposes, maybe a "blank" banner for the armies who haven't picked one and another for unassigned units could be set?

A "blank" transparent banner should be trivial at this point.  However, I've also been toying with the idea of a "realm banner" for militia and nobles who aren't in armies, settable by the Ruler, obviously.  I'm not sure about it, though.

And I don't think it should follow if you buy banners at all, it would translate as a graphic representation of something we don't really care about. Better just have everyone's banner displayed.

Absolutely.  This is not a representation of any particular paraphernalia: it is an indication of what army you are in.  The design of the banner is fully IC; its display anywhere particular is, at best, only quasi-IC.

Have you ever actually used IRSSI on Windows? Maybe the Linux version is better than the Windows one.

I didn't say it was an excellent Windows client, just that I'd use it...

I use irssi on my server, and connect to the irssi proxy from Colloquy: http://colloquy.info/ on my Macs.  I find irssi to be an excellent Linux client, and if I had to use Windows I'd probably use it there, too.

Foundation, if all you want to do with macros is expand some simple commands, you don't need perl to do that.  There should be an irssi config file (~/.irssi/config on Linux), and about halfway down that there should be an aliases section.  There's reasonably useful documentation on how to format aliases here: http://irssi.org/documentation/settings#a_b, but the really simple stuff is like
Code: [Select]
explode = "me explodes into a cloud of glittering dust";
ferret = "me whistles, and a dozen ferrets frolic out and start bouncing all around and on *";
herring = "me slaps $0 around a bit with seven kippered herring";
