Roleplaying / A Note on Copying Messages from the Game
« on: September 14, 2016, 12:39:40 PM »
I know it's super easy to just copy and paste things in, but with multiple themes, especially any that have white or lighter color backgrounds, please take a moment to strip any color tags out of your post. There are a couple options:
• If you don't mind a loss of other formatting, you can just select everything in your post and click "Remove Formatting" above (looks like an A with an arrow to another A). If you'd like a shortcut for this, Ctrl+A is a shortcut for selecting everything on at least Windows. If you have the cursor in the post editor box, it'll only select everything in the post's text editor.
• If you really want the formatting, switch views to the non-html editor and look for anything that has the below and remove them. This will force the messages to default back a user's given theme's default colors for posts.
Code: [Select]
or something similar, as well as
Your fellow forum-goers will appreciate it, I'm sure! Thank you.

This Forum / New Themes are Available
« on: September 12, 2016, 12:52:45 PM »
Thanks to some poking by Wimpie, I've added a few themes to the forum, that you can select in your own profile's "Look and Layout" option. The default is Chocolate Curvaceous, but there are a few others, like Ambassador2.0 as used on M&F's forum, or AlphaCentauri if you like a starry background and white post backgrounds (I'm using that now, fwiw.)

If you would like to make some suggestions, you can find a large list of SMF themes available here: http://custom.simplemachines.org/themes/

I'll take a look at any suggestions, and unless they break something, add them for your enjoyment.

Announcements / Black Forest on Steam & Forum Changes
« on: September 12, 2016, 11:30:19 AM »
Hello Everyone!

First and foremost, Black Forest went live on Steam a couple days ago. If you've been holding out, Steam makes it easier than ever to download new builds, and the game is as free as it's always been.

In other news, I'd like to welcome Victor C, and Gabanus family to the forum moderation team. These two individuals have stepped up to keep an eye on the Locals boards, among others, which means I've more time to focus on more administration type things and less moderation type things.

Which brings me to my last point: The "Background" board has been moved to the Community category, all SM3 boards have their own quite place under "Tom's Other Games" now, and the BM Expansions boards are now under the BM category, and, most interestingly, a few new themes have been added. You can suggest more here.

If you've ideas on how we could make things better, as always, feel free to let us know! Thanks!

BM General Discussion / Concept: Player of the Month/Year Awards
« on: September 02, 2016, 09:47:52 PM »
So, I had an idea earlier that maybe we'd foster some friendly competition while also foster better gameplay by having players elect a player of the month. The idea is pretty simple: each month players get to vote for one player or another based on how they play their characters, be they fun to play with, crafter of elaborate roleplays, or just unique. Each month out of the year would be a different person, and then at the end of the year, there'd be a player of the year award. The only rule would be that you can't vote for yourself.

As for what you'd get, I'm thinking maybe a badge of some sort for your profile(s), maybe some sort of other small reward thing.

Thoughts?

Announcements / Moderators Wanted & Black Forest Green Lit
« on: August 29, 2016, 03:07:35 PM »
Double Announcement: First of all, Black Forest (previously known as "Shwarzwald") has been Green Lit! To all those who helped make that possible, I'm certain you've Tom's thanks, so give yourself a pat on the back or something!

Secondly, I'm looking for anyone who might be interested in helping to moderate the forums. Mostly this consists of reading posting in your area, putting out fires before they become wars, and cleaning up spam. If interested, inquire over at this topic: http://forum.battlemaster.org/index.php/topic,7334.new.html

This Forum / Moderators Wanted
« on: August 29, 2016, 03:05:46 PM »
As you may have seen in the announcement, I'm looking for a number of interested parties that are willing to act as moderators on the various forums. If you're interested, by all means, let us know here, telling us why you want to help (yes, because you want to help can be an answer), and where you'd like to moderate.

That said, having moderator rights on here does not make you part of the Development Team(s) (for any of the games) or grant you any sort of in-game perks (yet? not my call), it just means rather than just reading the messages you can do a little bit to help keep this forum nice and pretty.

All applications will be subject to approval by the existing BM/M&F/Forums staffs. Furthermore, I've not broached this with Tom yet, but as he'll have title on Steam, I suspect he'll also be looking for moderators for that game's community pages in due time, if you're interested in helping out there as well.

Apply either by posting below, or PM'ing myself. Thank you!

Helpline / ETA of Activation Email?
« on: June 25, 2016, 01:47:18 PM »
You guys have any idea how long the activation email is supposed to take? It's been a couple hours now since I got bored enough to make another account, and it seems kind of odd it'd take this long.

(And yes, I checked the spam folder.)

BM General Discussion / Where did you come from? What's your story?
« on: March 02, 2014, 03:58:56 PM »
So, with all the changes going on, I got to thinking about all the things I've seen happen in this game. All the updates, additions, alterations. All the great wars, the backstabs, the multiple times the PMW got accused of abusing the game rules. So I got wondering, surely we all came from somewhere. We all have stories. What's yours?

Me? Well, I first found BattleMaster in October of 2005. And, it kinda scares me to think about it, but that means I've been playing off and on, mostly on, for nearing a decade now. If I recall correctly, and I might not--it has been a long time now--I was really bored and trying to find cheap games to play. Back then I didn't have much in the way of money, and was limited to dial-up internet, so my choices were nil-to-none. Somewhere along the line I ended up on the MultiPlayer Online Games Directory (mpogd.com) searching through the many varies multiplayer online games in said directory. BattleMaster was probably one of several dozen games I looked at. It's still on the directory, if you're curious.

Back then, I was the definition of a clueless noob. Had no clue whatsoever what I was doing. Joined Ubent, retired the character. Joined Itorunt, retired the character. Joined Ibladesh, made another character in Ibladesh, a month goes by, I made a newspaper for the realm on the wiki, one of the older characters didn't like it. I think they were the general, we got in a bit of an arguement. Both of my characters got banned, ended up joining Perdan. My first, more argumentative character ends up taking control of Perdan's Crimson Wing, and then dieing in battle against the Ibbies not more than a couple months later. That was Sargon Tian (my forum namesake). The other character Yunari ended up have a long career, eventually ending up as the duchess of partora at one point.

Since then I've played a dozen plus characters across every isle in the game but the war islands. Been in every position of the hierarchy but General, which is odd cause I love strategy games. Guess it seemed like too much work. Been a part of several religions in game, helped set up realms, helped destroy realms, been through invasions on Beluaterra, watched Dwilight get settled, saw the war islands sink, celebrated the fall of Ibladesh, even partook in getting dueling outlawed as a sport (anyone remember the EIDA?). I remember Ubent, Ibladesh, Itorunt, Oligarch, and Old Rancagua.

Over the years I've taken three breaks from BattleMaster. Once when life said I had to. That was in late 2008. A different time, I took a break that lasted probably six months. And am just returning from a break that lasted another six months or so. It's weird to think how much of this game I've seen. And I know I've only seen about half of it at that.

General Talk / Some travel questions for the germans out there
« on: February 04, 2013, 07:22:34 AM »
Hello everyone, I know the BattleMaster community is a very diverse one, so I thought I'd come to you and maybe get some information from someone local(-ish) to the area.

In a couple weeks (or so) I plan on taking a trip to Germany to visit my girlfriend. I'm looking for good ways (and hopefully affordable) to get from Frankfurt to Kaiserlautern or Ramstein-Miesenbach. I'm actually looking to get to the Ramstein Air Base, but those are the two nearest towns/cities that I can tell.

So far it looks like taking the train would probably be the easiest, but that means I still need to get between the airport and the train station.

Of course, if you have any suggestions, all ideas welcome.

Thanks for your help!

Welcome to BattleMaster,

You have just signed up successfully to the BattleMaster online game.

In order to join the game, simply go to the webpage and click the
"Play" button. You can also go directly to the login page at
http://battlemaster.org/login.html and enter:

There was some account stuff here that I've nixed.

In order to leave the game later on, log in as when playing, then
on the first page, look for the red "Delete Account" link in
the top-right area.

(If you did not sign up to any online game, then someone used your
e-mail address to sign up. He or she may also have made a typo. If
this worries you, contact tom@battlemaster.org)

I wonder how much this has changed since then...

BattleMaster Expansions / Request: Map Posters
« on: January 13, 2012, 12:22:59 PM »
I just realized this during my back and forth with De-Legro, but would it be at all possible for posters of the different islands to be printed, possibly in such a way that might support BattleMaster? Through "TradeMaster" perhaps? Maybe even different versions of the islands, as I know the East Island has changed at least once.
