Awesome. That's what I was kind of hoping for. More dynamic.

Totally, but what we need for that is much better unit code. When units actually work differently, micro-managing will be dead. If your unit actually works best with X banners instead of the marshal's preferred Y, then you have a reason to stand up for your rights.

I am fully in support of anything that adds uniqueness to individual nobles and thier units.  Those commoners may all look alike, but that doesn't mean that they really are.

Imagine the fun of coordinating the military if you also had admirals to deal with? Or commodores (as few nobles could afford enough ships themselves to be an admiral). I've always wondered what BM would be like if it was played on the high seas....

Can we get that for WI? That'd be neat (and kinda doable under the current setup). 3 or 4 cities separated by an archipelago. Only the cities produce fleets, and random storms can make or break a game (well, not this part).

I miss the days of fighting the Ittys and the Ibbys back in like 2006. Ittyland is long gone, and official Ibbyland is soon to be no more.

I think I will ask for a moment of silence to remember all those that have died when we finally remove Ibbycity from Ibbyland.

When did Perdan stop calling them Ibbys anyways? I loved that nickname (if you can't tell :P).

I'm amazed no one has asked this yet with all the talk about food, but how will weather affect harvests now? Same as usual, with weather changing weekly? Or will it be daily?

And it would be amazing to have some truly epic weather patterns thrown in. But that's just me ranting now.

There are instances where it's useful. It definetly makes it easier to read messages that are shared by others. Rulers and Generals are the ones doing this the most (or at least, make the most sense to do it).

Advantage: Quote blocks! :D

The only problems I have with it is that it won't process the old tags for italics and bold and that to type the tags in directly you have to be in the source editor.

I wonder if we can get strikethrough added now. That'd be nifty.

I'll have to check what options cafepress offers these days, though the stuff on there has for years not "supported" BM in any way - I earn absolutely nothing on the stuff.

Yes, it seems I can do posters at 23"x35" - that what you have in mind?

Yep, that's be great.

I just realized this during my back and forth with De-Legro, but would it be at all possible for posters of the different islands to be printed, possibly in such a way that might support BattleMaster? Through "TradeMaster" perhaps? Maybe even different versions of the islands, as I know the East Island has changed at least once.

Why not just ask?

I'm not saying it's likely, I'm just saying, there's no harm is asking.

Set it up as if you were debating where to send his dead body! It'd be far more entertaining that way.

The difference is, since it is a web comic you already KNOW you will like it, you already know how you value the content. With Toms offering you are taking a bit of a gamble on just what the value of the content will end up being. So we are left with Tom needing to spend time establishing his story telling credentials just so he can take a shot a publishing a series of short stories? Guys that do web comics tend to dedicate hours upon hours a week to get things up and running, for months or years before publishing a collection is a practical reality.

How do you know people won't buy it? In the last 30 days people donated € 152. That's not much, but it's something. And no, I'm not saying spend that. I'm saying that at the minimum there are people who probably wouldn't mind buying a book to support the game. I know I've donated before, and rather than a title that lasts for a bit and an extra drone, I'd actually have a physical, tangible object. That'd be awesometastical. Even better if there was a signed copy (yes, I'd prolly splurge and buy that instead of the regular one).

You could always just ask people if they'd like it. There are ~400 active daily players of BM (pulled from BM stats), another ~300 on top of that that consistently log in atleast every few days. That's ~700 people you can ask whether or not they'd like something. You could even ask them how much they'd expect to pay for something.

Oh, I know this. I've gather about all the same information from the various webcomics I read, and their occasional posts about how much it actually costs to run so many. Which is why a lot of those same webcomics do preorders, to find out how many people are actually interested in getting it. Or, they simply ask. Generally, people will say whether or not they are interested or not. True, not everyone who says they'll buy something will buy it, but on the flipside, some will.

And if it's 2-5k up front, well, set the prices accordingly. I once paid $39 for the signed hardcover of a $15 paperback because I really liked the webcomic. And it was 72 pages long. Albeit, full color, but still point stands. I've played BM for a lot longer than it took me to read that webcomic.

Not to mention, with physical books, you can charge extra for random things, like getting so-and-so's signature in the book, or you can number so many of them, or say "I'm only signing the first 50", or whatever creative thing you come up with.

BM General Discussion / Re: BM culture

I'm going to have to echo Glaumring a bit, I've never played a game like BM. It's very unique, and I roleplayed a lot bofore I found BM. I started the game very much with the new player "mentality" of winning, but after the first year or two, it warped. I just passed the completion point of year 6 a while back and I'm far more towards making the gaming interesting while still having my characters make IC sense. They want power of some sort, be it political, military, civil, whatever, but on the same note, I want things interesting for everyone else (as anyone who is familiar with my character Karana Tian will tell you--Barca would be  quiet place without her).

So far there is about one player I can't stand, and my one character that's familiar with that family has legit IC reasons to hate them anyways. Beyond that, there are several family names I've come to recognize, but generally I try to avoid following people. Still a lot of realms I've never seen. It's unintentionally happened a few times though, but that kind of comes with the territory if you play for long enough.

On the flipside, my first five months in the game saw me get two characters banned from Ibladesh, join Perdan, one of them became a Duchal Marshal, who shortly therafter died in glorious combat as a legend, then the other character became a Countess. All of this in late 2005/early 2006 of the East Continent. I think I hit a stroke of lucky timing for most of it though.

I'll stop my rambling here though, before sleep deprivation lets me get too much further off track.
