Do you also have stats on the average number of characters per letter per realm? 8)

Feature Requests / Re: Different levels of imprisonment

Downside: All judges will probably move prisoners to the hole (the oubliette thing you describe), making it harder to escape than already is.

I think few Judges will opt to move them to the 'House Arrest' kind of thing, to be honest.

That can be leveled out by limiting things or upping the costs.
perhaps limit the oubliette to only one prisoner, and or make the oubliette cost allot of honor.
Nobles where ussually threated very well in prison back in those days, holes are for commoners, not nobles.
Also limiting the oubliette to banned nobles only would prevent new players to end up with characters cut off from the game.

Any attempt to make prison (and especially getting wounded) less restricting the game is very welcome i think.

Well look at Madina. That realm died because of treason from within, prompting all of their lords to change allegiance to Fissoa. But the Madinan nobles were still about and eventually they seceded to form a new realm, with the name of Madina, exactly where the old realm of Madina had been. There's nothing wrong with that :)

I actually think this is an example of a terrible recreation.
The realm was finished off in a bloody seccesion war against the seceeded Aurvandil which was plagued by serious multi cheating(same people as Thulsoma, Averorth etc they used multis to harvest gold and sent it all to one place raising massive armies between 20 and 40 K CS at certain points in regions like Valkyrja which made about 200/300 gold ).
It was actually a vary sad moment in BM, or atleast for me as (co) founder of Madina.

The new Madina was founded by some old members (atleast two if i recall correctly), but didnt have anything to do with Madina.
It didnt share culture or the way the realm was designed, they actually went for the complete opposite.
The founders of the new Madina wherent creative enough to come up with their own name and flag and thus used that of the old Madina.
Wiki pages all kept refering to the old Madina and the new Madina became an empty husk of a relam build around a single ruler/Duke with no background, code of law or anything which it still is.
In contrast, the old Madina was put allot of work into and had a very unique style of governance that isnt like anything else in BM.
The new Madina didnt adopt all that because it was a very decentralized system and wouldnt allow for a single character to have all the power like now.

Swordfell/Sol was punished because the entire idea (as explained in their letter by the titans) was to get strategic advantage. In the case of Nivemus I do not believe that is the case and I'm quite certain there should be no problem if there's at least a decent RP story behind it (which you should have, especially with the OI Duke history of Nivemus etc).

So what are the rules exactly about this? How is the line drawn?
The intentions may vary between character's and players, I can imagine this wouldn't be an easy judgment.
Are all new realms reviewed by the titans?
I also understand that old realms may not be resurrected under the exact same name, since when did this rule go in effect?
I definitely recall several cases of realms recreated under slightly different names and at least one case of recreating a realm under the exact same name without titan interference(Madina).

Development / Re: Bugtracker bug

some more information would probably be appreciated.
When did the bug occur?
What triggered it?

where and what character experienced it, etc would be appreciated.

Also i can visit the bug bug tracker and reopen a case without a problem.
What is your problem?
Cant you visit the bug tracker or cant you open up up a case?

BM General Discussion / Re: Do you remember the War Islands mini-game?
« on: November 21, 2017, 01:57:55 PM »
I always thought it would be neat to make the mini-game a part of BM, so that nobles could challenge 2 friends to a game, like a duel, except a game like chess and multiplayer. Something neat to do to pass the time when sitting in a region under orders.

Cool idea!
Although the 3 player games where often the best.

I really liked the war islands mini game.
War islands also had a few non BM players.
What I remembered as a downside of the game was setting troop movements in late stage games, every turn you had to repeat the same movement input for the same regions.
Being able to set way paths per region would really solve that. (like in the warlords branch games)

Troop movements where set per region, so was production.
Every turn you had to move the new troops to the front region per region, turn per turn.
Apart from that i really liked the game.

Gotland suffered from allot of inactivity, key players where lacking time to play including myself, hopefully this changes soon.
There aren't much ambitious military leaders atm either, so any character with the ambition can make a quick and good career in Gotland!

And yes those pain and suffering scrolls are a pain in the ass.

do we want actual photos? or do we want pictures of drawing or paintings?
I'd definitely prefer the latter.

The difficulty for the picture is:

  • It needs to be a picture you took yourself
  • OR
  • It needs to be from public domain
  • OR
  • You are allowed to use it (have the rights)
These are the same conditions that are on the wiki.

Yes but in reality that doesn't happen, so many images are just taken from the web with no idea as to who has the copyright ownership.
It would take alot of effort to review all of them, but then again thats not done on the wiki either.
We could focus instead on making sure the pictures are genuine images of characters instead of swastikas, Isil execution video stills or boobs.

Some kind of generator for character pictures like the banner maker would be our best option to also get same styled pictures, but thats probably not easy to build.

great stuff, I like the character details link and the first screenshot on the character details.
The other layout for the character details is probably what other characters see right?
I'd prefer it to be in a template like the first screenshot: https://imgur.com/a/saV2Y

In that case I honestly suggest someone decides to be an adult amd cuts it off before things get ugly on am OOC level. There is no purpose in escalating something like this (even if you think you're right).

Its not really getting out of hand like that, its just a terrible discussion and completely unnecessary.
A concern was raised for a power bloc forming against Nothoi/Angmar, but its not turning into a constructive discussion at all.
However sometimes people just want to raise concerns, which can help by its self.
The players involved here have actually shown great maturity, including the player of Tandaros actually declaring his love for us BM players :D.
