With that, it would be interesting to have a very close knit of duchies who call the, "states" of a federation or something yet they are all different realms. It would be like having 5 senators (rulers) who would speak for their state (realm) and try to coordinate this and that. Perhaps very effective military wise as 5 realms would have 5 recruiting centers..

Anyways, back on topic! Just threaten them and beat them up a bit until they agree to more satisfying terms  ;D

Thats what Madina already is... but just not with 5 capitals, just one.
Governors(dukes) have full sovereignty over there duchy, the being part of Madina is all about swearing to the Constitution which is everything.
The Rebels defied the Constitution and now made them selves an absolute monarchy.

Twainville could be a nice place for them to sod off to.
lots of food production that will all be sold to the Republic as 'absolute' monopoly. ;)

yeay, long live capitalism!

Abbot is actually eager in making a deal that allow the realm to prosper.
But the terms to satisfy his realm mates would be harsh.
More like turning that realm into a vassal state and the head of Mendicant and perhaps one or two others.

Dwilight / Southern War of Nobility (Civil war in Madina)
« on: April 05, 2011, 10:00:53 PM »
About 3 prominent Madinan members have joined the civil war in total, a state of emergency has been called and things will result in a real war.
It will all depend on when whos going to attack and how much forces both parties can muster there at that moment that will determine the war.

Candiels has no archer RC centers and both Madina and Candiels are facing various monster and undead attacks since the secession.

Time seems to be in the advantage of Madina, while Candiels needs to strike before Madina restores her name sake city and almost doubles her national income.
With all armies now under the direct command of Lord Admiral Vallyn and a new Lord Purser whos trying to found a goverment trade/social security company, managing food distribution and a base income for all nobles, Madina threatens to become slithly more effective.
Fissoa is also trying to remain neutral making things look, Overall, quite interesting.

Corsanctum should technically be something close to the vatican of SA. But it didn't really work, and the reason is that it lacks the threatening power the vatican had back in medieval times.

More than once Corsanctum's authority was challenged by Morek, after Mathurin was paused, and they couldn't do anything at all. Corsanctum, being quite full of priests and never very successful at expanding, was not truly powerful militarily speaking, and the other theocracies was simply too far to truly threaten Morek even if willing. Moreover, Corsanctum relied on Morek's food and troops to survive for quite a long period of time.

You can RP everything as much as you want, but game mechanics, right now, grant power only to the big states. Little states have nothing to offer that would make their desires listened to.

That power was the power of excommunication, which basicly all catholic nations had execute by removing the excommunicated leader.

You can have all SA realms include that in there oath/treaty to Corsanctum.
It will give corsanctum and the church lots of power.

It is also possible to roleplay certain obligations to another realm by a simple treaty.
all parties sign to concede with any request given by the papal state and in any case will the papal state be defended from all enemies by signed parties.

I'd like to give you that counter balance, however it won't be fun for you ;)
If shae sets her marks on something, she gets it.
Probably will mean the end of Old Grekh and your faith.

Nice oportunity for Shae to found her own realm based on devine blood right of the throne :P

Lets say in comparison with Barca Madina has a massive army. Then again, how should we verbalize the armies of Caerwyn or Astrum? Supreme?

And I must agree with Vellos, I don't think it will be easy for Madina to invade Candiels. However, with the right amount of pressure, you could make the realm fall to rogue forces. But that would also mean that you make it harder and harder for yourselves to hold on to the regions you have at the moment.

Personally, I hope you will settle for peace. I'd rather see the south colonized than allowing the Duchy of Candiels to be taken by monsters.

The plan was to colonize it until these guys split off, they didn't made much friends by doing so, there are lots of other claim holders to the city.
I don't think there will be any other way.

Eventually i'd love to see the whole marocidens ocupied by small realms, would be fun!

Feature Requests / Duchal Referendums
« on: April 01, 2011, 06:31:15 PM »
To improve and support Ducal level playing and ducal orientated Politics, we should be able to hold duchal referendums, between all nobles or all lords, just like there are referendums for the entire realm.

I think Madina was able to send forces up there, but not much and they would only loot isolated regions, or perhaps offer some assistance.
We did it before.... (Madina colonized Eibuld from which Cearwyn formed).
The question was if it really made a difference? :P
That doesn't really mather for Madina as they like looting and missed it alot :P
But now we don't have to cross the entire inner sea to burn some bodies and rape some helpless women while we steal there rum n ale.
Yeaj!

some tension?
There will be a war and it won't last long...

It won't change much either, it just prevents Madina to anticipate in the war.
The strange thing is that the leader of Candiels was one of the prime anti SA people in Madina, so I do not really know what they achieved with this.
He must have been really greedy, just wants to feel like a monarch instead of a governor which is practically already the same in Madina....

Although i agree it adds up some fun.

Maybe we can have the judge to apoint one or two(depending on the size of realm in nobles) sub judges who can also arrest nobles withtin the realm.

Should we also allow the option to arrest foreign nobles?

Bah, the original Thulsoma was founded by a mere two men, with 200 gold, and barely enough men for a takeover and surrounded by hordes of monsters and survived until we chose to abandon the nation months later, stronger and more powerful than any other nation in the extreme north. The nations and men of other nations are soft, their nobles pampered by entitlement... Real men, take up sword and found kingdoms through brute personality alone.
Aye! Just like Madina is founded!

Unfortunately one man's brute personality is not enough against hundreds of teeth and claws...

Not to mention the fact that you can go to the information page and check the realm hierarchy page to see the knight situation everywhere in the realm.
Your right, but your saying new players should just do more work to get acquainted with the game, which is already very hard to get started with(Seriously...).

It's a good concept in the sense that players get a more clear, direct image of where to get what and what it will mean for him or her.
Perhaps, we should even implement a sort of, forced tutorial phase when one starts his first noble.
To guide the player threw the game by asking the player a few questions about how he wishes to play his character and then suggests him how to achieve this, step by step.
This way we can filter the information supplied to the player based on his demands.
For example, if his character has ambitions of becoming a trader, feed him the information he needs about trading and give him the steps to become one, we can find this out by asking one simple multiple choice question.

A Mentor could play the role of explaining the new player the culture, governmental & law system of that particular realm and perhaps something about the leaders of the realm.
To make this role more attractive, Mentors should be better rewarded, perhaps in honour/prestige, perhaps even a share of the students tax income(so the new noble and the mentor both share intrest in gaining a better oath for the newbie(more gold for both)).
