Exactly. A sea invasion is a high-risk gamble. It can pay off tremendously, but you could also be sending your army into a death trap. You've not yet seen what casualties are possible when you attack a heavily defended region - they are absolutely brutal. Invading a fortified region from the sea is like playing russian roulette - with trebuchets.
