Zuma noise!(IG spoiler)
« Topic Start: September 20, 2011, 05:23:30 PM »
Roleplaying Event   (7 hours, 38 minutes ago)
Message sent to everyone in the vicinity of Nightmarch (4 recipients)
Nightmarch is suddenly engulfed in noise. The Daimon there emits a high pitched scream, which is accompanied by an incredibly deep humming. The mixture of which cause pain and make any who hear it feel sick, indeed a number of the Zuma around are sick because of it, though they celebrate this when it happens.
Screamer

Changed it to spoiler tag, maybe too late, forgot to add this morning...

I don't think this should be shared on the forums...

This sort of event would be sent around the ruler and realm channels anyway.

Not all people can seperate OOC from IC. Especially not with info of this sort.

Wow, the Zuma ... actually doing something?

From what I remember as Ruler of Averoth - I just saw copious numbers of their Government members auto-pausing and then coming back time and time again.

No, but it has already been shared pretty far and wide.

Point being? Not everyone got it IG.

And even if everyone on this forum reads this thread, then all the players playing on Dwilight still won't know, because they don't all read the forums.

This isn't exactly s00per seekrit information.

It has been spread through the Adventurers in the Hunters of Dwilight guild and from there to Nobility who are members of which Glaumring is one.  I first heard it from a report through the guild before Glaumring spread word of it as a rumor he heard.  I would have done the same thing if he had not signed on before me and we are even tking IC action such as asking others who might be in a better position to know.

I don't think this should be shared on the forums...

Besides the fact that the event doesn't really herald anything, and the fact that Screamers abilities were already known, it is certainly not the job of the forums or Glaumring to police the fact that some people can't separate OOC and IC. I would rather see people engage in good faith on the forums then have everyone too afraid to discuss topics because someone MIGHT take OOC into the game.
Previously of the De-Legro Family
Now of representation unknown.

First of all, there's nothing my character would do differently if he knew this information.

Secondly, it sounds like this is being spread IG, as IG information--"I heard a rumor that the Zuma are stirring, and Screamer has sent forth a wail". What I was trying to say about the ruler channel is that Glamunring could pass along the report--either as written or my version above--to the ruler channel, and they could disseminate it IG. If not the ruler channel, then the generals, bankers, 'moot, Dwilight Trading Company, etc, ANYONE could hear this information somewhere.

This is a problem that comes up a lot, especially on Dwilight and BT,  because there is information that is designed to be an in-game surprise and many players prefer not to know about it at all OOC so they can truly sit and try to puzzle it out In Game.

I think an easy way to avoid this is to try to adopt adding "(IG Spoiler)" to the subject header when you are going to mention something that might fall into this category, to let the other players have the chance to find out "naturally" about it.
