As the sun sets...
« Topic Start: October 02, 2011, 11:25:54 PM »
Thain spent the day in prayer, anointing his blade with blessed oils, and going through the C'thonian rituals of dueling. Incense filled his tent, and when the time came... He rose. He clutched the double sword in his hand, checking the locking mechanism on the handles to ensure it was fitted properly and the blades would stay together. Satisfied, he proceeded to the dueling ring. He did not speak, and bowed slightly to Brian. The duel began, Brian launching a ferocious offensive, but Thain was a step ahead, feinting and dodging like a man much younger than he was. It ended suddenly, Thain's blade piercing through a seam near Brian's armpit. Thain knew it was too late, and watched the life drain from his enemy's eyes.

"And so you are forgiven, go now, to the halls of Valhalla." Thain whispered as Brian gave his final breath.

Thain stood, and sighed. He stepped out of the ring, and ritualistically began to clean off his blades. He purified them with oils, and unlocked the mechanism holding them together. He handed one part to his squire, and sheathed Arken at his side. He stood, and looked at the horizon, the sun just barely still up. He shook his had sadly, and climbed atop his horse. Anacan was next.

Roleplay from Devan Hawkeye   (1 day, 6 hours ago)
Brian's whole body ached, the disease and sickness that wracked his body had forced him to give up his crown and he could feel his end approaching. Brian raised his sword as his opponent bowed to him slightly and each man looked at the other unspeaking. Brian gathered the strength left in him to end his days like a man and a warrior as he had always been.

The duel began and Brian ran towards his opponent, an old fire came burning through and he swung at Thain who moved with step and skill around the brute force of Brian. Thain was obviously the superior swordsman.

Brian smiled slightly as he launched his last attack, swung and lifted his arm exposing his armpit. He hoped that his opponent would not notice that he had done it on purpose.

The blow slid through his weak armour under his arm and pierced him. Brian's body tensed and then relaxed and the peace that only death can bring, overtook him.

Brian Hawkeye king of two realms and warrior of the Far East was dead.
