You know, there is also the east/west axis, not only north/south.
Then I guess one has to define "Montreal" and "wilderness". Lots of farmlands around Montreal, once you are out of the 'burbs. Lots of wilderness north of the burbs as well. Many people tend to view Montreal and the suburbs as being one and the same.
I guess I'd define it as seeing the skyscrapers. Most of the ways I know, you're already into suburbia when you see those.
Then again, I include St-Hyacinthe in suburbia. Some people may argue that it's farmlands already. One way or another, it's not wilderness.
