All feature requests must be submitted in accordance with the following rules.

  • All feature requests must include:

    • Title: A brief title that helps to differentiate requests clearly. Generally wants to be the same as the title of the topic you create.
    • Summary: A summary of what the feature request will consist of. This must not be longer than three sentences, and must get across the main ideas of what your feature request is about.
    • Details: A complete description of the feature request—what would need to be added or removed, and how it would work.
    • Benefits: A clear and concise explanation of what this actually adds to the game. Does it solve a specific problem you believe exists in the game? Does it address an obvious lack?
    • Possible Downsides or Exploits: How the feature might negatively affect the game or how it might be abused, and what could be done to counter it. This is likely to be the hardest part, and we know that you are not all developers, but it is important to spend at least 5-15 minutes thinking about the following questions: "What is bad about it?" as well as "How would I turn this into a weapon? How would I use to gain something I couldn't otherwise have? How could I turn it against its own users?" - and if you want to write "nothing" in here, take another 5 minutes, because very few things in life don't have a downside.
  • There are a number of feature requests that have been brought up and rejected a number of times. These are listed on the Wiki at http://wiki.battlemaster.org/wiki/Feature_Requests#Frequently_Rejected. Please read these before you post, and if your request sounds like one of these, please don't post it. You are welcome to ask for clarification on the Development board as to why these features were rejected, but do not be surprised if you simply receive a link to a previous discussion as your answer.
  • As feature request discussions proceed, refinements and improvements (and clutter and cruft) invariably come up. The original requester is encouraged to edit the original post with any changes he or she believes are worthwhile. The development team may also edit the original post with changes they like, or to remove sub-features that are impractical or that have been rejected, if they like the overall idea. If this happens, please do not revert the dev team's edits.
A more complete explanation for why these rules exist as they do can be found at the feature request guidelines listed on the wiki, on this page:
http://wiki.battlemaster.org/wiki/Feature_Requests

Feature requests that do not follow the required format may be locked immediately, without even being considered or discussed.

Here is some code you can copy/paste into your new thread on the forum:

Code: [Select]
Title:

Summary:

Details:

Benefits:

Possible Downsides/Exploits:

You should fill this out as completely as possible. Make sure you indicate specific areas that need attention.

Please remember that we have been receiving feature request for over 10 years. That means that we have received a lot of feature requests. Some of them many, many, many times. Just because you filled out the form properly, and got some support on the forums doesn't mean that your feature will be added quickly. Or ever. All of the devs are volunteers, and write game code in their free time.

If at first you don't succeed, don't take up skydiving.
