Scouting while traveling
« Topic Start: April 29, 2012, 09:10:10 AM »
No point in a new thread for such a simple question!

How does one stop traveling?

I have traveled to a region and when I did I set it to automatically travel to the next. A group of undead and monsters appeared one region over and I simply want to scout it but my only scout option is to scout ahead of me...is their any way to scout this neighboring region?

Nope. If you are traveling, you can only scout ahead toward your destination.

Yes, this makes you vulnerable to ambushes and such. That's the idea. :)

Well if you're moving out and your scout breaks off it's gonna be a lot harder for him to find you again in time to provide useful information. Sending them off ahead means they can just backtrack and there you are.

Essentially, while travelling, you're on the road, not sticking around in a camp waiting for him to get back.

Yes, because a scout is going to be able to give you detailed information about an enemy army no matter where in a region they may be but be completely unable to find his own army.

Let's not beat around the bush, eh? This restriction makes no sense from a realism point of view but is purely there for game balance, like many things in this and every other game.

There is also a way to scout back were you came, but it will cost you 2 hours I think.
You can turn around and scout ahaed, but now ahead is the region you started from.
Then you canturn around again. This will set you back on the original track.
I have used this a couple of times to see were the rest of the army is...

yes.. though you can only turn around so many times (on the same road?) before they ignore you.

if you want to see where the rest of the army is... just look it up in the army page. (region / moving/stationary) but it's not in details.. unless you are the marshal i guess... or for that matter.. just look at the region page. again.. not as detailed as a scout report.

I didn't know about that ignoring part, once had it on a 30 hour trip, when I was almost there. Ugh :)
