My brotha! 

I play my great grand father's banjo but that thing is at the relic stage so it's too warped to really play. Still cool to have an instrument my ancestor played back in the hills of Tennessee with all his kinfolk, ajawin and carrying on. My family has always played a mixture of Irish folk, american folk and bluegrass. It's kind of combined into a mess.

What's your favorite groups in these genres?

That's awesome. I was born and grew up in Central Kentucky, but have been living in Far Western Kentucky for the past several years for school. Great folk and bluegrass culture out here, of course.

I like Gillian Welch, Chris Thile/Punch Brothers/Nickelcreek, Carolina Chocolate Drops, some Bill Monroe, J.D. Crowe,  etc. as well any pick-up old time string band I happen to hear around here.

I like Gillian Welch

She is my favorite right now, I like her new album too. It was well worth the 5 year wait. My favorite thing about her is that she is absolutely despised by many current country musicians simply because she's from New York and not "Truly country" but to be frank, she's better than any act on CMT. She's what I consider real country, or roots country, roots folk blah blah blah etc etc. I don't know what it is but she just speaks to me in a way no other musician does, I feel like she knows the hardships of my family. I also think every man has that one female singer that just seduces our sense of hearing, she's definitely that for me. God I adore her. Props for good taste man, seriously.

I find it funny though that I'm sitting here talkin' country and hip hop in the same thread. I think that's because I'm from California, Pomona is where I was born but I moved further away from LA and moved out near San Bernardino. Not too many Country/Folk enthusiasts out here, but my folks listen to it but I grew up around hip hop, never really learned to enjoy it until the last few years.

In terms of influence on my musical taste it goes like this in this order:

1. Bob Dylan (I know he can't sing but he's my boy, I tend to hate perfection in music anyway, something fake about being overly talented.)
2. Bone Thugs N Harmony (I love them, they're actually really talented and from the golden age of hip hop.)
3. Gillian Welch (For reasons stated above.)
4. Tom Waits (Who doesn't love the cookie monster?)
5. Shane MacGowan (He's a hideous drunk but damn is he a real poet.)

Don't think that if country is the subject people don't like metal.
I think theres loads of metal fans on BM
Including me.
But i have to agree with Perth (again) that that kind of metal is not my thing.

Does anyone play any instruments?

I've always thought about writing songs revolving around the world of BM and recording them. I think it would be cool if other musicians in BM did the same, or even collaborated to write songs. It would bring another element to the game, and the cultures we create within it.

I wrote lyrics of songs for battlemaster but never went so far to write music for it and or play it.
I have some instruments that could produce an authentic sound.
perhaps ill make a song about the rise n fall of Madina, with paralels to RL.

I love Woody Guthrie. I was out at some little record store in LA County when I found one of his old vinyls, they were selling it for $9.99 and it turns out the store didn't know their ass from their elbow. The record ended up being worth quite a bit more than that, so it was a great score.

If you're serious about making some music for battlemaster, I'll collaborate with you if you're up to it. I'll just have to get a hold of some decent recording equipment first, but we could always mash it up into a song. Definitely send me anything you record, I'd love to hear it. I'll do the same for you.

Metal is awesome. I love black metal, when I was younger I would blast it and my mom (who is very religious) demanded I turn it off because it would draw demonic spirits into our house. I just lulzed and said "Good."

You might ask what doe sit have to do with BM.
Well obviously that would be more in the lyrics, yet it does give a distinct feeling of sleeping on the beach or beeing on the open oceans for a looong time i'd say.

Thats what I would imagine Raoul listening in his palace near the shore in Leohampton. It feels very sad, that I like about it.
