Mmmm... Medieval Acronyms?... Yes, Abbreviations and Acronyms were used for almost all kind of things.

I have a medieval crux with these inscriptions:

__C__
__S__
NDSMD
__M__
__L__

And with SMQLIVB - VRSNSMV all around.
