The only "solution" is to get the founder's realm on your side, and to get him banned and captured by his own realm-mates, and then have him executed. None of the other things proposed are anywhere near an actual solution to such a problem.
Not a solution. If he went rogue as the top elder and kicked out all the other elders so they couldn't change the boards it implies he is a priest, and priests can't be executed.

You don't really own a religion and too bad wouldn't be the answer of nobles if they didn't like their new leader.

Priests can indeed be executed.

They cannot be deported.
If at first you don't succeed, don't take up skydiving.

Thank you for the response. Technically execution could solve the problem, but not really as you need to have someone immediately change to priest class if your religion's only priest was the elder, and regardless it would hurt your religion a lot more than any of the other options due to the extreme penalties applied to a religion with no elder priests.

You don't really own a religion

yes you do if you are the founder. you are the highest rank.... ever. you have power over anything in that religion. until you croak it.

not a great fan of plasters that needs to be unpicked later if and when schisms are in. founding a parallel religion is the workaround for now.

Supreme power does not mean you own it. Anyways, protesting an elder out does not require anything schism related. Also in this situation he isn't necessarily the only priest, he is just the only elder priest. Plus it just kills the religion if the only priest is doing drastic changes to the religion without support of any of its members.

whole point of schism is that if you don't like what the boss is doing, you fork it leaving him a tiny shard. ie.. same thing as currently starting a new religion except you lose all the infrastructure and funds.. which presumably a schism will address.

i don't like the idea that lower ranks can get rid of a higher rank in religion because there's a strict linear hierarchy. yes i know schism isn't in, but if you add in booting elders, then i don't really see it being removed when schism gets in.

the founder (or new leader after founder is permanently got rid of) does own it. as highest rank, you can boot out anyone but other priests (i think?). and if other priests were not trusted enough to be appointed over him in the 1st place before the founder croaked it, then you'll just have to arrange to have the new leader killed. rank = line of succession and actually does matter.

Everything has been said.

You can not remove the pope once he got elected. You also can not remove a bishop from below. The proper approach to having a bishop removed is to pressure the pope into doing it.

You can do that in BM religions with no code change. You don't need a button to click to accomplish things. All you need is leverage on the guy who has the button.
