It was still a mountain.

Mountain of dead in Ozrat, you mean. Still waiting on Sorraine to pay Ohnar after letting Dragon followers starve in Ozrat  ::)

Ha! You should pay us for ridding the world of that vermin.

And yeah... Ozrat... what a mess. Sorraine has been a slow-motion train wreck almost since Day 1.

Letter from Velax de Vere   (12 minutes ago)
Message sent to the Rulers of Far East (7 recipients)
Dear rulers of the Far East,

I am somewhat surprised at these events. I had thought the sun would set in the east before Kindara declared war on Zonasa.

Despite the reasons for war declared here, it has not gone unnoticed that should Cathay and Kindara conquer or destroy the Principality, it will result in Cathay being allied to every non-Empire realm in the Far East. Your previous vehement statements against joining the Empire, King Galiard, along with phrases such as "counter-weight to the Empire" and the fact that I was kept in the dark about these war plans, would seem to indicate this is no accident. It is my belief that you are forming a coalition to stand against the Empire, whether to break it apart or prevent its expansion. And while an Empire that expands no further may be in Cathay's best interests, it is certainly not in mine. A coalition of every non-Empire realm in the Far East represents a direct threat to my realm and to the Empire, and I will not allow that to happen. The threat posed by Ohnar's alliance with Aenilia was but a gentle breeze compared to the howling gale that this war represents.

To respond to the potential threat posed by such a Southern Coalition, the Arcaean Empire will march to aid Zonasa in this war.

Yours sincerely,
Velax de Vere
Emperor of Arcaea
Royal of Arcaea
Marshal of Imperial Arcaean Legion

In all seriousness though this war got a lot more interesting and I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

From what I understand, this is the way that Cathay/Kindara expected it to go.

It's not a huge surprise, no. The Arcaean delegation that was sitting in Zonasa for about a week had Edmund pretty sure Regent Steel was jumping into Arcaea's bed in some way.

Actually, unless there were things going on that nobody told me about (which is, of course, quite possible), it was totally unrelated.

Lord Protector Khaludh wanted to talk to Baranion Anaris about some religious matters only his family would have known about.

Being on both sides of that, I was hugely amused as a player by that misunderstanding. Lord Protector Khaludh was on a completely innocent, non-diplomatic personal mission. The Arcaeans with him were there as a guard, as he is our General. Velax had no idea Kindara was seeing it as collusion between Zonasa and Arcaea. Galiard questioned him about it and Velax told him the truth. Not sure if that was passed on to Kindara.

Leofric, on the other hand, thought the same way as Edmund.

It is amusing how that turned out.

It didn't help that Edmund and Steel have basically had no communication with one another since Steel decided he just didn't need to talk to his Federation partner about the decisions he was making, so suspicious minds start to wonder.

Surprise, surprise. Arcaean involvement will greatly increase the fun this war will offer. Eager to see whether Cathay can fight a two front war with its current military leadership.

Regarding mountains of dead Sartanians, I will merely point out that, since Sorraine getting it's arse kicked and losing territory, AND since Thain's quiet massacres, we still have 70,000 more followers of Sartan than we did before the Sorraine-Ohnar war started. Go figure :p

I didn't figure Khaludh had anything to do with this. I don't know him well but he is the most like a younger Galiard I have seen on the FEI and while young Galiard wouldn't get in bed with Steel, he could feasibly get into bed with Zonasa.

This will largely be a test of Galiard's diplomacy and Norrel's generalship. Both probably have to do pretty well now.

They are followers of Sartan, so they have big swords. It's a metaphorical mountain, to compensate for things.

Fixed that for ya!
