Hey,

A realm must for various reasons pay a tribute of a few thousand gold to another realm. How would the best way be, in your experience, to gather such a sum as equally taxing as possible from the realm?

Step 1: Find your nearest Duke.
Step 2: Turn him upside down.
Step 3: Shake vigorously and pick up the coins that fall out.

Ruler tightens taxation screw to max, dukes panic and raises taxes to max... lords panic and spank peasants moar and moar!

Yeah, but the point was to somehow try to collect from as many as possible so not only the dukes has to take the hit. But as jaune said, you can start a chain reaction by having the ruler raise his realm tax to max. Is the max realm share always 50%?

Pretty much. When Terran was fighting Allison, D'Hara funded their war efforts. Ruler imposed max taxes on the dukes, and ordered them to hike their taxes on the lords. In the days, D'Hara's cities were max pop, really productive and wealthy, and all of those margraves were basically dukes, so that was making a tonload of gold going to the crown every week. I don't remember the exact amount, but I'm pretty sure I went to give a few tens of thousands of gold to Terran in less than a month.

That was some nice funding of the war effort! Soo...where is all that gold going now? *whistles*

Then the Long Winter happened...

Had Candiels and Madina not been occupied by imperialistic cheaters, maybe that massive starvation could have been avoided, and D'Hara could have been one mighty player right now. But our cities are still recovering, and will be for some time.

You were too busy stealing gold to notice the lack of food. ;)

Allegedly stealing gold :p. Besides, stealing during the Long Winter wouldn't have been worthwhile. Depopulated, starving regions don't make money, and if they don't make money, I can't steal it :p

I used to read on Battlemaster Wiki that we have access to Black Market if we are Banker. I never been Banker before, is it true Banker can steal more gold?

Aurvandil had a significant positive balance in terms of food, and no friendly realms to really trade with. So did Falkirk at the time, I believe. And Mendicant frequently made comments about how he could have prevented our starvation.
