By unanimous vote, the Corian Senate passed the following referendum:

Secession of Frekpotis:
1. The Corian Senate hereby authorizes the Consul of Coria to announce, and Duke Merlin Silverfire to enact the secession of the Duchy of Frekpotis from Coria for the formation of a new realm.

2. The Corian Senate irrevocably grants all of its lands, claims, titles, rights, and sovereignty to this new realm; to take effect immediately upon the moment of its creation. The new realm is to be defined as the legal successor to Coria, in every sense of the word; and the Corian Senate urges all of Coria’s allies to maintain their current relationships with this new realm as the representative embodiment of the Corian people.

3. The Corian Senate authorizes the creation of this new realm as a Constitutional Monarchy, with Duke Merlin Silverfire, as first King of the realm.

4. The Corian Senate recognizes any opposition to this proclamation to be contrary to the wishes of Coria, and it’s Senate. Thus, the Corian Senate, as its final act asks all allies of Coria to uphold and defend the terms of this proclamation as the final will and testament of Coria.

Ah I see. A legal secession. The question then is why? Didn't like the Coria name?

Why? Well that will depend upon who you ask.

For instance, what you're going to hear from Merlin in game won't be the same as what you hear from people here on the forum.

At any rate, It's for two very simple reasons:
1. Remove Duke Saeculo of Shanandoah from power.
2. Create a Monarchy.

I'd be curious to hear a little more about what this Duke Saeculo of Shanandoah actually did. Seems like an interesting fellow ;D

He pissed off Merlin. By not supporting his last idea. And this is called "undermining the realm", in diplomatic-speak.

Haha, of course.

So out of curiosity, what was this "last idea"?

Didn't support Merlin's Phoenix Empire thingy.

Didn't support Merlin's Phoenix Empire thingy.

I assumed that it was something else since one of the two stated reasons for doing the Phoenix Empire thing was because he (the Duke) was being difficult (according to the official story).

How could he objecting to the Phoenix be a driving force behind the Phoenix? Do you see how it all turns into a loop? ;) Except for the changing from Republic to Monarchy-thing. Maybe it is that simple?

Silverfire is lying.

It is a realm focused on cannibalism and self-flaggelation. Also, they worship the an empty pedestal which they hope someday will hold the severed (but still living) head of Sordnaz. And they wear puppets on their hands all the time, even while cannibalizing and self-flaggelating.

Let's see if we can get this rumor going...

That's a lot closer to the truth than you know. Ravendon asked to make a skull goblet out of Ender's head, but it was a sign or respect.
