Promoting somebody to a higher position of power, with more authority, just to get them out of a mid-level position you really want fresh new blood to slot into.

Why is that unusual?

It's IC and, while it happens plenty IRL, most people on BM don't promote people to get them out of a position they want someone else to have, if that person doesn't deserve the promotion. In my experience, most people promote others because of merit or favoritism. If someone is under-performing, usually they are demoted, not given accolades and medals.

Asylon isnt a meritocracy its an 'interestocracy' if you are motivated it doesnt matter what you say or do you gain a voice. Its chaitic but we prefer that to what we see in less dynamic realms.

That's petty much the way every realm I've ever seen works. If you want to help, you can. The only reason people ever get locked out of a realm is if, for some reason, they think they can't trust you. Sometimes it's because of your family.
If at first you don't succeed, don't take up skydiving.
