In a few hours, the year will end here in Germany, and as BattleMaster launched on the 1st of January, 2001 that also means it is another BattleMaster birthday.
With well over a decade now, BM is one of the longest-running games in the industry. It has had its ups and downs and from a personal perspective, there were months that I dedicated most of my spare time to it and other months where I didn't even touch it. But it's always been with me, as it has for many of you. We have many players who have been with the game for 5, 8, 10 or even more years. Which means that for many of you, BM has been one of your longest companions, probably longer than your dog and in many cases than your partner.
This is one of the reasons that it has and always will have a special place in my heart. Because of the families I know that played together. About the father who kept contact with his son via the game. And we even have at least one couple that met in BattleMaster.
My special thanks goes out to Tim and the other members of the dev team who have done at least 90% of the work this past year as I focussed on Might & Fealty. You are heroes.
I wish you all a lot of success and fun in the new year, many wars, victories, exciting defeats, schemes and betrayls.
