Raziel and his men lay on the ridge, patiently waiting for the tax collector to come by. The local he had given silver said that he came by at about the same time everyday, and was known to carry a large amount of coin. Sure enough, a richly dressed man and a single guard wielding a cudgel came riding down the road shortly after dark. The first bolt took the guard in the throat, the second took the tax collector's horse in the eye. The horse was dead before it hit the ground. His men drew their blades, and charged down the slopes, Raziel at the front, his massive blade, Faust, in hands. He hit the tax collector with the flat of the blade, knocking him to the ground. The man spat a tooth out was dragged to his feet by a pair of Raziel's men.

"I am under the protection of Lord Wlasbhemy, and this is the King's Road you are accosting me upon. Release me now, and your deaths will be painless!" squealed the fat man. Raziel smacked him across the face with a gauntlet clad hand.

"Shut yer fat mouth. You're speaking to Sir Raziel IV, Grand Vizier of Lyonesse and Count of Loratil." Growled one of his men. Raziel glared at the man, and grabbed him by the throat.

"Keys. Now." he growled, and the fat man blubbered and choked. He fished a key ring out of his pocket and Raziel snatched it.

"Keys m'lord? What do we need bloody keys for?" asked his captain as the fat man was released, falling to his knees, blubbering unintelligibly.

"Do you think they just keep their tax gold laying about in the open? Its locked in a chest in a strongroom at the Lord's estate, just down the road from here. Since they lack any appreciable amount of guards in the county, I figured we'd stroll in and liberate them of the burden." Raziel said with a grin. "Kill the fat man." he added, and one of his men sawed through the fat man's neck with a dagger, leaving him choking and bleeding in the road. He was dead shortly afterwards.

The men took off, and shortly afterwards Raziel was 119 gold richer, and the Lord's estate now found itself sporting Lyonessen banners. Raziel figured they would be taken down after he left, and he dared not stay for too long. He and his men needed to keep moving if they were to remain alive. It was true, they had taken down several larger units already, even facing down two nobly led units at once, but if they stayed in any one place too long, it wouldn't be hard for a large enough group to catch them.
