The Battle for Westmoor, Round 1
« Topic Start: June 30, 2014, 07:01:16 PM »
That was an exciting battle. It looked like the southerners would pull out a win on this one. Some botched coordination in the attacking forces left most of Sirion's army a half-day behind the vanguard, and missing out on the attack.

54 siege engines at the wall, makes for an easier assault. Only slight overcrowding for some for some units.

Two southerner units jump off the walls and commit suicide.

The northern arrows were deadly, as six southerner nobles were wounded in the very first round, including the two who tried to face the attackers on the open field in front of the walls.

Loghain Mac Tir of Fallangard, Marshal of their army, is killed. Bad day for the family as Anora Mac Tir was captured as well.   :(

Overall, pretty close battle. The southerners held the walls against the attacking infantry, but failed in their sally to defeat the attacking archers. Nearly 600 northerner archers/SF are left standing to hold the field.

The fortifications started at level 5, in nearly perfect shape. They were knocked down to level 4.

What a battle. Thought the duke of city would reinforce the region but the player was busy. I guess that was one of those luck factors helping the NA out.

Loghain was just starting to get fun to play too :(. Any suggestions on what I should do next? I doubt the NA would be up for letting Anora go on compassionate release?

Heh. That's when all the heroes die. When things are about to be good.

It wouldn't hurt to try and get the judge to let you go so you may grieve over Loghain's death.

Good battle. It will not hurt to ask Judge to release Anora to grieve over a family member's death. At least you can try, on compassionate ground.

On another note, Brock unit got thrown back from the wall quite many times. I am sure many attacking Infantry units have encountered same thing. That wall at level 5 is very hard to breach without many siege engines.

Moving apartments > BM. :P

But, yeah.. Ravier's been saying ICly this day would come, and that Westmoor were no more than a meatshield for Perdan (at least under Atanamir). But no-one listened, as usual.

Think he might need to find a new home soon.

OMG! I've been saying the same thing, too! No one listens to me, either....  :(

Just for the record. 41 attacking nobles against 41 defending nobles.

Quote
Total:
41 attackers (1739 Inf, 602 Arch, 69 Cav, 399 SF)
41 defenders (794 Inf, 60 MI, 865 Arch, 274 Cav)
Total combat strengths: 33903 vs. 22695

As Indirik mentions, the north archers were deadly though. I guess the northern weather make the arrows much tougher and good quality in hunters archers.

To be fair, not losing all of your major recruitment centers to the glacier helps a lot too. Not that I'm saying the glacier should have hit north, the thought of Sirion having the glacier morale/payment boost makes new shiver

1700 Infantry couldn't take the walls against 800, even with 54 siege engines? I'm surprised...was the attacking Infantry of poor quality?

Nope they were good. Just that assaulting a city is always a difficult task.
