Nah. When a party is left with no gold and item, it should die off. You can no longer be adventurers when you are naked!

Which would be more - force the players (of the party) to scrap this group and start a new one?

I know I've had characters in the past that I would have taken ridiculous options to keep them alive somehow...

I don't know what to do with such parties, really. For the moment, they will hang around, maybe they'll have a lucky break.

Well I see few ways.

1) My suggestion of getting rid of 'broke and can't succeed anymore' parties. Leaving them in the player history as failures.

2) Let them borrow equipment and pay back later with a bit of premium. This will be risky to shopkeepers.

3) Let shopkeepers invest in such a party but in return take everything that party earns for a certain number of missions. If the party they invested in fails, take all their stuff back maybe?

Not if their party is new(technically new since their original party got wiped out) and has nothing on them with almost no gold.

Maybe you can let them have maybe few items from dead members that they can sell? Maybe they should only be allowed to sell items of dead members instead of using them themselves.

That is a nice and neat solution. Maybe 35% of their total net worth maybe? Or 10% of their experience?

I've now changed starting gold to be based on character, not group. That means new characters also add gold to the party, and new parties now have starting gold depending on the number of characters in the group.
