End of Kurlock
« Topic Start: June 07, 2015, 07:21:40 AM »
As the sun began to rise, Kurlock moved ahead of his men to see the city up close.

He has seen the city once before, but he never managed to enter the city. He hardly breached the gate the last time he was here.

He could see the marks left by his men a couple weeks back on the walls of the heart of Taselak. Some sections of the walls were still damaged while some sections were repaired, although poorly.

When the day was bright enough for him to be able to see all the Tasels on the walls, Kurlock drew his mighty Toe Smasher on his pony's back.

"Attack!"

With his order, horn blowers and archers signaled the attack. Archers from both sides started to exchange arrows between them.

"Your holiness. We need to move back. We are too ahead of everyone. We don't have enough men to breach the city yet."

"This is time for Kurlock to shine! Start putting siege engines against the walls! Kurlock will charge ahead! Tell others to follow! Kurlock shall be the first one to enter the city!"

"No, your holiness! That is too dangerous!"

"Pah! There is no Tasel strong enough to kill Kurlock in a single combat! Kurlock shall crush all their toes for the Wyvern and the Griffin before the faithfuls arrive! No more talking! Follow Kurlock!"

As Kurlock climbed the walls, Tasel archers began to focus on him. Some Tasels realized who was in the front and quickly focused their attacks on Kurlock.

Kurlock's men tried to protect him by climbing faster but there were way too many Tasels waiting for them at the top of the walls. As his men were pushed back from the walls, Kurlock was stuck on the ladder. Kurlock shouted his men to move forward but the fight on the walls were too fierece for his men to move forward. While Kurlock and his men were stuck on the ladder, Aeneas' men began to chop the ladder with their axes. Kurlock quickly pushed his men out of his way to stop Tasels from chopping the ladder but as he was about to get on the wall, a long spear appeared before him and pierced his heart, pushing him off the walls.

Kurlock fell to the ground from the walls which caused Kurlock to die momentarily. But soon Kurlock could feel the Wyvern and the Griffin giving him strength to get up once more. Kurlock could hear their whispers telling him to rise and fight once more, just like his first day as the Wyvern Incarnate.

However, unlike the last time he died, there were more than one person wishing him dead. As he got up, the gate of Taselak opened. Through the gate, all the remaining cavalries Taselak had poured out. Before Kurlock could react, another spear pierced his body. Followed by the spear, cavalries of Taselak slashed, pierced, and smashed Kurlock until he was no longer recognizable. Even the Wyvern and the Griffin could not make Kurlock rise for the third time when there was no body to raise.

When Sandals arrived at the spot where Kurlock was shredded, they found nothing but a pool of blood and his toe smasher.

Ranks of soldiers marched with Turmagen at their front, advancing on Taselak's walls with their bristling spears held high. Already there were ladders pushed against the city walls, held at their base by throngs of Sandals urging their comrades up, soldiers swarming up them like lines of ants. From the top of the walls came the incessant clamor of steel clashing against steel as the Sandal vangaurd fought desperately to establish a foothold. They occupied but a toe. All along the rest of the battlements length archers discharged their arrows in waves. The arrows crashed harshly across the ranks of Turmagen's spearmen, eliciting cries of worry and confusion. Turmagen steadily pushed forward, weathering the storm of arrows with his shield held up high, a dozen arrow shafts already lodged in its thick wooden frame.

A fluttering banner caught Turmagen's eye. The infantry at the ladders were bearing Kurlock's royal coat of arms. The Great Wyvern had pushed ahead by himself! Turmagen hastened his pace, he had to reach his master, to lend him his aid.

Arrows continuously whistled down, cutting down swaths of Turmagen's soldiers. It was as though the entire arsenal of Taselak city was falling upon them. Soon only a thin force of a dozen men remained, with so many arrows lodged in their shields and armor they looked like porcupines. But they were close to the walls. So close...

Turmagen looked ahead to his master, fighting by himself now, the rest of his troops pushed back. Turmagen watched as the Great Wyvern, the living god, was transfixed by a single spear shaft. He watched as the Holy One fell to the earth in slow motion, as he struggled back up. The city gates opened at once and heavy cavalry swarmed out, their hooves shaking the earth as they galloped forward. They had but one objective. Turmagen cried out hopelessly - "Master!!!" - as the cavalry rode down the great Kurlock, striking him with their swords and sticking him with their spears as they passed. They struck at Kurlock and trampled him with their horses, then with a cheer set off. Turmagen saw the sorry state of Kurlock's corpse. It was too morbid to describe.

Turmagen gave one last cry and charged toward the wall, and so did his scant remaining men. The Tassel archers watched him, with cruel smiles twisted on their lips. They drew back their bows and discharged one last volley. Their corpses littered the earth.

But Turmagen survived somehow.

Roleplay from Philippa Rede   (2 days, 13 hours ago)

Blood was splattered across her face and smeared across her hardened leather armour as she strode to the Ikalak command tent. A vanguard smashed their shields in salute to their General as she passed through them and into headquarters.

Philippa reviewed her manifest, assessing the damage to her army. King Blanche and Duke Hans had both suffered minor injuries as had the two knights who had followed Kurlock in the front line. But on the whole Ikalak had faired well during the siege. She pushed aside her papers and dropped her arms and head on her desk,

“Kurlock, you stupid fool!” she whispered. “How am I supposed to finally face you head-to-head now?"

Roleplay from Mooch Nifelleisca   (2 days, 6 hours ago)

Mooch and Tomas were beside Kurlock on his scaling the walls. Though Kurlock had around 200 men surrounding him, Mooch 120, and Tomas some many score himself. Together, these four hundred infantry scaled the walls and were thrown back. One hundred of Mooch's men slain in but minutes, Mooch falling down, only cushioned by the corpses and wounded below. He started chewing on the wounded, oblivious to the fact they were his own recruits, while the cavalry exited the walls against Kurlock and his remaining 100 infantrymen.

As a healer helped him limp away from battle, he saw a great weapon soaked within a pool of blood in front of the Taselak gatehouse. He thought 'much blood much weapon'. He picked it up. Had he had more sense, he would've wondered how such a weapon was left laying there after Sandalak and Ikalak had penetrated Taselak's fortifications.
