Performance feedback
« Topic Start: May 09, 2016, 11:07:29 PM »
Playing with the display options, one of them I don't see much use for - if you turn off the map you can't see what you're doing.

My base FPS (with everything on) is 28.

With terrain off is goes to 55
UI off gives no change
Image effects off goes to 37

Using:
MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015)
Processor 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5
Memory 8 GB 1867 MHz DDR3
Graphics Intel Iris Graphics 6100 1536 MB

For comparison, my numbers:

2010 iMac:
base: 25
terrain off: 60
map off: 30
image effects off: 28
GUI off: 25

MacBook Air:
base: 15
terrain off: 30
map off: 16
image effects off: 19
GUI off: 15

Build 14 numbers:

iMac:
base: 27
terrain off: 60
map off: 30
image effects off: 30

MacBook Air:
base: 15
terrain off: 30
map off: 16
image effects off: 19

so basically, it was for nothing. But maybe someone else sees a difference?

I think it won't go above 60, so it's clear the terrain is eating my performance. Probably the forest. Thanks all. I will see what I can do.

Please guys, don't forget to post performance info using the current build. This is really important to make the game run on as many machines as possible.

Thanks. There is an old and a new terrain/forest switch. Can you check both and compare which one gives better performance?

Map off: 45
Old forest on: 26
Terrain on, forests off: 30

On my machine, new forest gives better performance about 3 - 4 fps. It's not much I think.
