Academic year in LA
« Topic Start: March 16, 2017, 08:53:57 PM »
I've never been to America, but next academic year I'm very likely to work as a language assistant in a LA college. Any useful advice / comment / whatever is absolutely welcome.

Why, where are you from? I'm Australian but my wife is American. I've traveled there extensively (12 Mo over 7 years) and my kids are dual citizens. I'll likely get mine at some point to though we live in Australia. What are you worried about specifically? LA is kinda rough but California fairly tame as a whole.

Oh, I'm not exactly worried, more intrigued and curious than anything else. Being from Spain's capital (Madrid) I think I've got the basics of big cities with over a million people pretty well learnt already. I'm speaking more of relevant local information, such as absolute must sees, should not go places, public transportation tips (as I most surely will have no car with me), nice stuff that usually doesn't make its way to tourist guides, spots relatively close by worth visiting at weekends... Those sort of things.
