Roleplay from Kyryn Kye JeVondair

A moment passed as both man and daimonn sized him up. Kharyn, a trained diplomat, whethered their appraisal evenly and returned the gesture in kind, sparing but a moment on the human knight to instead regard the daimoness. She, if indeed "she" even had a gender, was unlike anything he had ever seen before. It was fascinating, he thought now, to hear a voice of any kind coming from a creature so exotic as to appear bestial. Nevertheless, he recovered swiftly enough, and then he recovered two envelopes, one green and one red, from his inner-vest pocket, flashing them between thumb and forefinger.

"Sir Miralion of Raviel I presume?" He said without taking his eyes from the Zuma. "The Lord General has commanded your return home. Your orders have just arrived." He waggled the appropriate red envelope. "It is never wise to keep a Kinsey waiting..."

"And this one-" he continued, speaking now to the Zuma as he flipped his wrist to display the green envelope, "-this is a letter of invitation from His Majesty. I am aware of the contents, though I have not read it, and the seal remains unbroken."

Kyryn waited then for the Zuma to speak. She hadn't, after all, invited him to approach and Kyryn, unflappable though he appeared (or at least hoped he did) was not at all immune to the fear-inspiring presence of the envoy of Yh'gh'th.

Kyryn pursed his lips, his expression one of disapproval.

"Did you not haer me, Sir? My name is 'Ki-rin'" he pronounced slowly. "Kharen is my royal sister, and I haven't the foggiest who Karen might be but I'm sure she's a lovely woman." Kyryn emphasized the ennunciation of the gender as he raised the red envelope and, with a flick of his wrist, sent it spinning towards Miralion.

Margrave Decimus, Sir Miralion, you too. Please return to Port Raviel.
Jean Luc Kinsey
Lord General of D'Hara
Margrave of Nebel
Marshal of the Dragon Legion
That was sent to the entire realm, my goodman. As I said you've been ordered home. Do run along now, unless you've another sonnet of devotion you'd like to share? If not, I believe the realm would benefit greatly from showing our...guest just how...tractable D'Haran's can be..."

Kyryn's tone was innocent, polished, but his words were a non-to-subtle rebuke, and the general's orders hung above them like a sword that might fall at any moment.

The one named 'Kyryn Kye JeVondair' announced himself, then displayed his respect, and then proceeded to argue? debate? No... bicker, mostly likely, with the overly enthusiastic one, before offering a missive, and bickering some more.

Kyomi, for her part, grabbed the envelope between two of her forward claws of her right hand, though it seemed to simply stop existing once it left the hand of Kyryn.

She watched the back and forth for a moment before simply walking towards the port. "Your sovereign has invited me to his court, and warned me of you both. At his behest, I shall not judge you too harshly. Come, before this land of ghosts keeps us longer."

A couple steps further, it dawned on her. Perhaps they were lovers. She was pretty sure they were both male, but a secret tryst alone in an abandoned city, it wasn't the oddest thing she'd heard of. This could be how things start for them. The thought would probably keep her amused until Port Raviel.

"Tell me," she spoke without warning, a very sly look on her face as she said it, though she looked at neither in particular, "have either of you ever considered, each other?"

"My...Lady..." Kyryn began with a sly smile of his own, the only defensive reaction his lizard brain to imagin to counter the sheer terror of the daimoness's cracked contenance...sarcasm. "I know not if they have anything so mundane as wealth where you are from, but I assure you, I would be beyond the means of such a one."

Humor, from a daimon? Kyryn began to think this trip would be more interesting than he'd thought...

Just as unnaturally as it had appeared a few days ago, the fog that had blanketed Paisly began to simply drift into the sea and vanish. Whatever had kept it there, seemed to be departing.

Kyryn flinched as the fog suddenly, mystically swept away. He'd never seen anything like it, and he blinked a few times to test his vision. After a moment, he recovered. He'd just...ignore it, for now. "Ahem, In any case, if
you are prepared to proceed, Lady Zuma, a D'Haran ship awaits us at the ferry port this way..." Kyryn inclined his head over his shoulder from the direction he'd come

Miralion headed to glorious Yh'gh'th and said
-With haste, my glorious liege.
Miralion proceed to mark the engravings at the welcome sign of Paisly.
The engravings recorded the events of the day and the alliance between Zuma and D'Hara.
There were only two names recorded, Almighty Yh'gh'th next to an engraving of the Zuma Flag right below was Brave Miralion next to an engraving of the D'haran Flag.
Maybe as a mistake the name of Kyryn was left out.

There was also a long text, detailing how this moment changed mankind forever in an alliance of love and trust.
Signed by Miralion Metanoia.

Miralion ordered all his archers to drop their armor and scavange for metal.
Once there was enough metal, Miralion ordered his cauldron master to prepare a forge and anvil.
To turn what was only stone engravings, into a metal monument.

Miralion once again proceeded to Yh'gh'th and said:
-Now we must seal our bond.
Miralion draw his cerimonial dagger out and slashed the palm of his right hand open.
Miralion turned to Yh'gh'th and offered the blade with his left hand and waited for the almighty creature to sign a blood pact with him.

Kyryn did his best not to gag, though it wasn't the daimon that disgusted him so much as the spineless, child-like obsequiousness with which his fellow D'Haran "knight" cavorted. Not for the first time, he regretted not pursuing a loftier title. As a count or baron, at least, he would have been able to damn well order the boy away. But even as Kyryn's irritation threatened to flare into outright anger, he released it. Miralion seemed to be keeping the daimoness somewhat entertained at least. Who knows, maybe she'd even take the poor lame-headed bastard up on his baleful offer and lay claim to his heart...literally. Desipite himself, Kyryn's lips cracked into a true grin of genuine humor, but he schooled himself back to a more somber repose.

"Uh...hmm..Mistress Kyomi," Kyryn said after a moment struggling to decide on an appropriate mode of address. "If you'll follow me, the ferry boat awaits."

Not knowing what else to do in this situation, Kyryn half-turned and waited to see if she would follow. He did not approve of the King, his Duke's, decsion to invite the daimon to the isle Kyryn's father had once ruled. He thought the idea rash and had told the King as much, who knows who was out there watching. The news would surely spread, one way or another, and he worried about where that might lead. However, from his interaction thus far with the daimon, he did not think such conversation would interest her at all, particularly when her attention had already been...contaminated by Miralion's jester-like antics. He sighed, attempting to master both his frustration and the ever present, gut churning fear of the creature's otherworldy presence, and was thankful at least that didn't have rank after all, placing these decisions safely above his well-bred neck. The  boat was not far, just east aways, but Kyryn was highly conscious of the many many ways any diplomatic meeting could go awry, and that was just among the various Human tribes.

At first, Kyomi was likely to simply ignore Miralion's... quirkiness, chalking it up to some sort of divine worship or some similar thought process she cared not of, but then it dawned on her.

"Miralion, certainly there are orders to these things among your kind. Some will build nests, others will find the most spherical pebble, and others yet will joust. This too has an order." She began, giving the man a sly look, before glancing over to Miralion, "Besides, Kyryn here would get jealous. And we wouldn't want that. As such, I shall be joining him on his vessel for the journey to Raviel. So he doesn't feel left out."

Miralion was speechless and quickly hid his bloody hand.

He ordered his men to set sail to Port Raviel, passing by Kyryn, while she was looking at Miralion, Miralion showed her his tongue as offending her deeply.

Report from Pawl Paxwax Message sent to all nobles of D'Hara (14 recipients) - 23 hours, 28 minutes ago
Fellow nobles,

The so called Kyomi, a Zuma daemon representative, has just arrived in Port Raviel, as if carried by mist.
I ask you that you don't interact with her (apparently of female form) and leave the discussion aspects to me. The Zuma Lord has sent Kyomi as an Emissary, to observe D'Hara further and determine if it makes sense for the Zuma to trust us enough to sign a Peace treaty.

Sir Miralion, I am not sure what happened to you in Paisly, however I can assure you and everyone within our realm, that no bowing is needed nor requested. Hopefully that you've now returned back home you will also return to your normal behavior expected from a D'Haran noble which isn't easily impressed by other creatures or beasts, no matter how impressive they may be.
We shall all stand TALL here, as proud D'Harans that we are, just as our ancestors were too, heirs to the Dragon Throne and the Tomb Isles, while representing Humanity in front of the Zuma.
And though you've taken our Lord General's words as insults, please understand that he meant no disrespect while speaking the truth: your first loyalty, just like everyone's else within D'Hara, lies to D'Hara and to me.
Also, the orders he gave aren't in any way divergent with the ones I gave you. I've requested that you invite and accompany Kyomi to Port Raviel, while the Lord General has ordered you to return to D'Hara. And at the moment you've actually successfully followed both, having returned to D'Hara while accompanying Kyomi. And for this I thank you.
I hope this clarifies any potential misunderstanding which may have appeared between the recent letters we've all exchanged.

Sir Kyryn Kye, I thank you for reporting the discussions which occurred in Paisly, as weird as they may have been. And thank you for sharing my invitation to the Zuma representative.

Now, these being said, I shall start the talks with Kyomi and will keep you all updated on how things progress.

United we are strong,
Pawl Paxwax

Many thanks for your acknowledgement, Your Majesty.

I have also taken the liberty of corresponding with my aunt, the Oracle Rania, in Beluaterra. It will be some days before a ship can return with her reply, I am sure, but there is no mortal alive that knows more about daimons than she. Though i doubt many are aware of her work, she authored
The Daimonomicon last year and I am quite certain she will will place great value on anything we might learn from the Zuma's visit. She will be particularly interested in any habits, physical or otherwise, Kyomi expresses.
Signed,

Roleplay from Yh'gh'th
Message sent to all nobles in Port Raviel (5 recipients) - 20 hours, 3 minutes ago
Kyomi, as Yh'gh'th had taken to calling herself, stood on the deck of the ferry as it came into port, her form drawing the attention of many before they either: stopped what they were doing to stare, dropped what they were doing and ran, or started praying to... the stars? Was she sensing that correctly? Kyomi made a mental note of that, mostly to find out which ones in particular. The act of praying was not, it itself, unexpected. Most things did something similar when confronted with something of her form. She was a three meter (nine foot) tall humanoid that had sharp teeth, presently aqua-ish scales for skin, talon-like claws on the ends of her fingers, a lizard-like tail, and antlers that added an additional ninth or so to her height, after all. And to make it even odder, she had a somewhat human looking face, of all things.

"Kyryn Kye JeVondair" she spoke, suspecting he was nearby enough to hear her, "Your Pawl has invited me to join you all for dinner, though he did not specify where."

"If perhaps you knew, and since you seem to be able to maintain yourself in my presence, an escort would be preferred."

Roleplay from Kyryn Kye JeVondair
Message sent to all nobles in Port Raviel (5 recipients) - 18 hours, 55 minutes ago
Port Raviel was familiar and comfortable to Kyryn. He'd be born in the keep and though he'd done most of his growing-up in the Lurian Court, he had spent the vast majority of his time in D'Hara as a courtier supporting his father's former fief. He had met with the people, dined with them, heard their woes and communicated them to the appropriate authorities. He'd even gotten drunk with a merchant or two upon occasion to celebrate the success of a hard-negotiated deal or marriage, or both. He knew this place. Which was why the shouts of alarm were even more out of place then they otherwise would have been.

He could hardly imagine why.

Kyryn had thought his work as the Dragon King's...intermediary had ended when he'd delivered the invitation to the daimoness. But it didn't occur to him until it was too late that perhaps it would fall under the heading of Bad Idea to have the Zuma wander about the city and hope she wound up anywhere near where the King would be. For all he knew, she might wander into a local temple, and wouldn't THAT be something?

To avoid the potential panic a 3 meter daimon walking around in public might cause, he'd hired a few of the burliest ferrymen to take the Ferry's only lifeboat mid-transit in hopes of arriving in time to secure some manner of transportation for the Zuma. Naturally, for so large a...woman...a simple carriage would not do. Kyryn was no craftsman, but even he could see the Kylio's animalistic bulk would be, at best, an uncomfortable fit. Upon arriving at the port, Kyryn spoke with the more prominent drivers. Their carts and wagons were built for cargo, which guaranteed the King's guest would have room to arrange herself comfortably. It was ludicrous, he thought to himself, that he was worried about the comfort of a daimon. But Kyryn had a very acute sense of self-preservation, and it would be another Bad Idea to deliver her to the king after the foul mood that a poor ride might cause. Some noblewoman, he knew, took offense at every cobblestone they felt their carriages hit. Carriages, not draft carts with no suspension whatsoever. Of those he found, all were filthy with constant use, splintered and worn with little thought given to comfort. If the King didn't call for his head, she might.

Thus Kyryn found himself  in his own personal carriage escorted through the docks and screams by a few JeRavosi mounted guard and thundered toward the towering, dark figure standing at the Ferry's edge. It was a gorgeous thing. Kyryn had spent a princely amount on commissioning it for his use while in the Empire, and refused to part with it. Another small fortune had been spent on getting it here. It was painted black with a crimson interior and lustrous upholstery. Everything that could be brass, was brass. Silk curtains were drawn out of the way so that Kyryin could see. It was, however, his personal carriage, and Kyryn, for all his breeding, was a prince only in name. That meant that for all his ostentation, he could only afford a relatively small conveyance, and while his carriages four wheeled-frame was indeed larger than the single-seat two wheelers favored by eastern merchants, it was only meant for two and the two horses that were hitched, while well bred, were both mares and on the smaller side at that. Kyryn hadn't counted on the need to entertain more than a single guest at once, so his two-seat carriage was far cry smaller than four or even eight-seaters drawn by as many fine stallions he'd seen the wealthiest nobles use. But it was all he had, and it would have to do. "OUT OF THE BLOODY DAMN WAY!" The JeRavosi Captain, a powerfully-built woman named Trajonia, bellowed. "DRAGON KING BUSINESS!"

With 8 mounted troops and a carriage being driven so quickly its many-spoked wheels skidded across the cobbles, the peasants and workers of the Port Raviel more than got the message, moving and diving out of the way. A subdued part of Kyryn's mind wondered if the crown would reimburse him if any of the stupendous amount of near-misses found a mark. The rest of him was inordinately grateful for the captain's deft handling of the crowd. Trajonia had known what to look for, and it was not long at all before the group had found Kylio, cordoned off a space around her, and pulled Kyryn's carriage up before her.

The carriage was still skidding as Kyryn flung the door wide and, smothering her trepidation with professionalism, held his hand out to Kylio. It would be an uncomfortably tight fit, but fit they would. And the sooner he delivered her to the King, the better...

"Welcome to Port Raviel, My Lady."

"Your Lady?" Kyomi mused, both at the words and the carriage that Kyryn Kye JeVondair had requisitioned. "Dangerous words."

While the sly smile from before had returned, likely to Kyryn Kye JeVondair's dismay, she had found herself unsure of what to do with his hand offered. Certainly, she understood the intent, the purpose of it, but she wasn't that unable. There was also the claws...

"Your welcome is noted," she began, making her way inside the carriage on her own, without much difficulty at that. It was as if the carriage itself had bent around them, but that made no sense at it certainly did not appear to be damaged or warped in any way after her entrance. "Though, if it's not too much trouble, may I ask you to ride with the driver? I'd appreciate some time alone to... recenter myself."
