We lost nearly 50,000 in our city in just a few short days due to starvation. Is this normal?

Unless they resort to cannibalism, when there's no food, there's no food. It's not like some people can magically survive much longer than others. When your city size has gotten back in line with its food supply, starvation should stop.
After all it's a roleplaying game.

When there's no food, a 50,000 men army will die just as fast as a 10 men unit. Same for cities, I guess :)

Once starvation gets rolling, it goes through the population like a hot knife through butter. Caerwyn lost over 80k in Golden Farrow in about a week.

Most people can go at least a week with no food--even peasants who aren't fed well. The game seems a little unrealistic in this respect.

I think there is a long period of low food with no message (that may not be a game mechanic at all), a period of "subsistence level" where the GM is recording adverse affects (and you can see this is reports), and finally starvation, which means they are literally dying of lack of food now.

So, they've been using up their 7 days; now they are starving to death.

Shizzle

also, a whole season lasts only three weeks... seeing how fast some peasants seem to procreate is also an indication of a different timeflow :)

Harvest also doesn't come in every week in the real world, and destroyed populations take generations to recover.  Do you really want realistically timed sieges?  I know I don't want to spend months trying to starve out a city.

Our city is still starving even though there has been adequate food for about a week now. Is this right?

No. What city is that?

The Banker of Summerdale (or was it Libero?) in Dwilight had commented on that issue. About cities with food starving.

I've heard from PeL's banker that this is apparently a Dwilight-wide problem, and explains what's been happening in Askileon as well.  Very, very annoying.
