I'm not alone in being enamored with the idea of city-states, so here's hoping for the success of both Vanityvilles, Kabrinskia and Solaria.  I don't know anything about Allison or her motivations.  Can someone provide background?  Malus seceded basically as a collective commercial enterprise to roll back the frontier and round up grain for Lurians.  It's a business venture in the earliest sense.  A lot of capital and lives invested in very specific goals with the promise of future payoffs.  IMHO it's the first test case for several ideas Matt, me and several others have been kicking around.

Related: I sure do like Dwilight.

I am also very pro-city states. RoF and Irombrozia were my darlings (even though I never actually played in RoF).

Allison has a hole in her head. Literally. She RPed a trepanation a few years ago. She sees the Stars through it.

That should give you the gist of the character.
After all it's a roleplaying game.

But if you were curious, it was a planned secession. Way back when she seceded from Morek to form Entai and the war with Caerwyn broke out directly afterward, Rowan made her an offer - abandon Entai and let Morek retake Aegir; Bring yourself and your followers to Astrum and help us fight Caerwyn; in return for all of the above, we will commit to helping you form a colony in Golden Farrow.

Morek got Aegir back without a fight, and got rid of Allison. We got Morek's army in the field weeks before it would have been there otherwise, plus about ten extra nobles. Allison got a political resurrection and the colony she's been wanting for a while now. Everyone wins! This deal was possibly the greatest thing I've ever done in BM. And yes, I'm upset that dustole didn't name the realm after Rowan instead  8)

Let's be honest, though: Rowania sounds even worse than Kabrinskia.
If at first you don't succeed, don't take up skydiving.

Yes, but it would have been *my* character, so it would have been alright  ;)

Also, there are other names you could come up with that incorporate my character's name.

Rowanallisonia?

Allisowania?

I think Allirona would have been a good name.

Kabrinskia just had the Light of the Stars shine down upon it!  I spent less than 1,000 gold to build 6 recruitment centers.  Here are the results of the ones I decided to keep.

Infantry       40             80 / 70
Cavalry        40             80 / 60
Archers        35             80 / 55 (range 3)

On top of that, this last turn change I had a really weird immigration report:

Regional Report for Golden Farrow   (17 hours, 19 minutes ago)
the lord and knights of Golden Farrow

Population is growing through 133 new births.
9064 peasants have moved in from Eidulb
4109 peasants have moved in from Port Raviel

Looks like Kabrinskia is blessed!  3 very good recruitment centers and 13,000 new peasants all in the same day!

wow. Yeah the light of the stars did shine upon Kabrinskia. One of my realm spent 3000 gold on trying to build a good cavalry center but still no luck.

Demyansk came with these pretty little things. Yes, stare in wonder.

I'm not a huge fan of Special Forces.  They make great "ego" units, but they cost a HUGE pile of gold to recruit and maintain.  That is why I much prefer to have a great infantry center to build the backbone of our army around.

I do not think SF units are that good. You can get better units with the same amount of gold.

De-Legro

SF are not designed to form the bulk of your force, but when used in a properly balanced army they can make a significant difference. The range 5 SF in particular can be devastating.

Oooo, if we're boasting, Kindara just scored these:

"The academy can now offer special forces from your region to nobles of the realm.
They will have a training of 95 %. Weapons quality is 100 % and armour quality is 85 %."
