Favorite Unit Type to Command

What's your favorite unit to command? Feel free to explain why!

Nothing screams "I am a successful noble and you have work to do before you even come close" like leading a 100-men ranged special force unit that can take on a whole army by itself.

I like cavalry, massive hits/gold ratio, at least sometimes. Even if your unit is often decimated soon after. SF as close second, because it's just cool to show off with a 1500CS+ unit also, I've had some great regeneration rates: 70 men unit, 69 wounded one dead, all but a few recovered in 2-3-4 turns. Never used MI or ranged SF. Every now and then I get large archer/infantry units, for TOs or sieges

I like me some good SF. The variety that exists between them intrigues me.

But overall I'd say: any melee type of unit.

I would say that my favorite unit to command is infantry, because I like being part of the backbone of the army.

Mixed Infantry are the perfect unit for fighting rogues. Unfortunately this mainly makes them valuable on Dwilight, and if the rogue spawning was at old levels, they would be awesome!

Yep. I am leading them now. Pretty impressive. But really expensive to maintain.

Flaunting your personal wealth is extremely satisfying.

In general I like MI as they're flexible. Ranged SF being like MI on steroids are even more fun

Exactly! Nothing like showing off that your a powerful duke, except running around with 75+ men SF units with 95/95 stats.

Except maybe running around with a 115 man cavalry unit as only a knight. That was pretty awesome. I must say I love cavalry the most. Seeing that hit for 2000+ hits in a single round from one unit is just too good to beat. Although I think having only led the same cavalry unit for over 3 real life years on one of my characters has something to do with that.

A large cavalry unit is fearsome. I remember when Perdan was sieging Tuchanon V in Isadril, King Sangue and his unit of about 80 Black Knights single-handedly blockaded Isadril while the Perdan army went home to refit. He trotted back and forth between the three border regions, and attacked anyone who dared to poke their head outside the city.
