Well the value of the coins was completely dependent on the amount of precious metal within. The bigger the coin, the more value. However, the Florin was pretty much adopted as standard by most European states by 1400 ad, with almost every state issuing their own version. Other currencies tended to be made of less precious metals (silver and such)
