Is anyone even publicly running yet...?

Well, I did NOT see Rurik coming. Rynn may be a tough act to follow, but Rurik helped BUILD D'Hara, did he not? With him in the election, Rynn retiring, and Machiavel forbidden, who can realistically stand a chance to win the office against him?

He should make a good, fairly conservative Prime Minister, possibly with more of a return to "D'Hara classic".

Well, now Pierre has jumped into the mix, brave sod  ::)

I think the fact that Rurik rarely addresses the public will hinder him, although Pierre speaks often in the House of Lords, the knights do not know him either as he rarely speaks to the realm at large.

At this particular juncture, diplomatic landscape being what it is, I think Pierre would be a better choice, yet he has a heck of an uphill battle just because Rurik is pretty much a D'Haran institution unto himself.

Getting fined for desertion mid-campaign probably doesn't help Rurik's bid.

That was BS on both you and the Confessor's part. If you are going to punish him, you could at least give him, especially when a duke, a chance to explain his actions. Unfortunately I am tired and sunburnt now so I probably won't be able to get a letter sent out for a good 14 hours.

Regarding the recent turmoil between D'Hara, Barca, FR, Terran, Saffalore and Phantaria.

D'Hara: guys, you like beating up Saffalore?
Farronite: sure, I am you man!
Barca: I think I am okay with that too. I want to look cool too.

Saffalore: Me no like you D'Hara. You pay you will.
Saffalore: you please Luria, threat D'Hara
Luria: whatever...
Luria: D'Hara, do whatever you want, but what goes around comes around. I think..?

Phantaria: Stop you guys!! I want all toys of Saffalore.
D'Hara: Mhehe, you can't have them.
Phantaria: That's not fair. Terran said I could have all old Terran's toys.
Terran: Yes that is true. And I didn't just say that to get Phantaria off my back. I love him now.
Barca: Why don't you beat Terran and take his toys? That was from old Terran as well?
Phantaria: It ain't logical, but I made a pinky swear with Terran. We are cool now.
D'Hara: Phantaria, I am not your friend any more.

I think Phantaria, Saffalore and D'hara should merge and become a super realm called Ph'aralore.

I was thinking FR and Phantaria should meld together and become the Phantarronite Republic.

Or they could be the Farronite Republic with one more duchy.  ;D
