Oh god yeah. I played on Gaia Online for a few years! I used to run an international forum for RP'ers to post and run their own themed RP's, since I got tired of having to log into 10-15 different gaming forums for all my RP's. Though I shut it down, I know its an amazing concept and a great way to recruit people to other games.
At one point my old email had a few thousand contacts, all online text strategy RP gamers from either fantasy or scifi games. The people are out there...
I play high-graphic games and consoles daily, but I religiously play BM and MF. Its just what I do.
What I learned is that NaNoWriMo is another good source. Who better to bring in than RP'ers? The strategy/tactics is backseat. #1 should always be the player interaction, man. Its the glue that holds the game together. Without player interaction, I'd may as well be playing a much more complex medieval sandbox on my PC than be logging in here.
