How long must a Lordship/Duchy remain empty before reappointment?

Topical - just wondered what the actual 1) mechanics & 2) rules are, since there seems to be a lot of confusion

1) if a Lordship or Duchy goes vacant because of wound or inactivity, is there a game mechanic that blocks them from reappointment for a period of time?

2) aside from placeholders that we've discussed other places, are there any rules about reappointing after a wounding? after inactivity?

Is simply leaving the position empty for a period of time and reappointing later acceptable?

Not after anything in particular, just clarification.

Leaving the position vacant and then reappointing is completely acceptable. It does not treat the position of Lord as a mere steward. You wear whatever disadvantage might arise from he vacancy and are not appointing people to merely access mechanics.

In amplification to Anaris' answer (which is that no, there is no rule against it), this is something that could easily be handled by a mechanic, if it were desired. If it was desired that you shouldn't be allowed to reappoint for 30 days, then it would be prevented by a mechanic (just like restrictions on frequent class changes or region swapping), and we wouldn't need a rule.

Rules are made as rules and not implemented as mechanics only in situation where it is impossible to create a mechanic to regulate it, or where the mechanic could not be made reliable.  There really are no arbitrary rules for situations that could be handled more easily as mechanics. If there are, please bring them up, so an implementation for a game mechanic can be discussed, and possibly implemented.
If at first you don't succeed, don't take up skydiving.

Thanks - just wondering for when people ask about it. Obviously not something I can "try out" in-game to see for myself
