Helpline / Re: Unable to appoint noble to lordship
« on: May 29, 2014, 10:15:46 AM »
Who is the knight, and what is the region?

Sorry, I do believe we found the problem. The knight in question just lacked enough prestige I believe. Didn't think of it before writing. So we can forget this question :)

Thanks for the willingness to look at it though :)

Helpline / Unable to appoint noble to lordship
« on: May 25, 2014, 06:07:54 PM »
Hi,

My char Duke Silas wanted to appoint a noble lord on Dwilight. He asked him to vacate his estate so he could be appointed. Yet after the knight had done so, it still says "(no available candidates)" where I try to appoint?

Any ideas on why? Have others experienced this and should it as such be reported as a bug?

Ah, this is the thread. Yeah I am going to disagree with them being not worth it or not working. My priest alone can attest to two successful stabbings unfortunately and the latest my guards didn't even see who did it so they got away with no harm done to them (for now).

Well, priests are perhaps the most vulnerable target for them since they walk around without any unit at all. But doing anything to anyone with a unit...

What needs to happen is infiltrators need a lot more low-risk, low-reward actions that also train your skill. This will allow them to actually contribute while they are still relatively unskilled, without living in fear of their lives all the time.

This is definitely something on my TODO list, but it's also definitely after the War Improvements Package.

That sounds brilliant. It was a long time ago since I had an infil but it really turned me off the experienced since it was months of just sitting there, spending tons of gold in the academy (training at high levels is not cheap!) and then when she was finally deemed experienced enough, she was caught just moving around or doing supposedly low risk things.

A way to act without needing the infil to be an expert from the start would indeed be a great start!

Huh? The character is not dead with that message, just seriously wounded as far as I know.

I would argue that infiltrators simply are not powerful enough these days. There seem to be very few of them around since it costs so much time and gold for very little reward.

This is out of topic though but since the discussion ended up there, I wanted to voice that opinion.

Solved I believe. Try again.

Yes, it seems to work now. Strange. Quickly appeared and quickly disappeared.

Like the title says. I'm unable to write messages to more than one recipient unless it is a formal group (created by the ruler).

After I click on which nobles I want to compose to, I get this message:

Sorry, the validity check did not work out. Either you are trying to send to a list that you are not allowed to send, or you left the message open and did other things so we need to re-verify your status. Please try again.

Never arrive at the screen where I can write the message.

Just wanted to ask if more people here has the same problem or if it is isolated, and if so, to what?

I was able to send just a few hours ago so this happend very recently.

This is on Dwilight for me. Don't have chars anywhere else to test with.

I for one couldn't care less with the sentiments. I personally don't trust people to all be inherently good. I find that most of the people who distrust the government in all things are deluding themselves into thinking that the average population is any better.

The average population has neither the resources nor the interest needed for keeping records of more than the comparably few they actually know personally... + you know...famous people (and even that info is through media).

I've yet to notice a neighbour tapping my phone or collecting my private text messages. The government agencies of some nations actually does these things and if technology lets them to this to hundreds of millions, they will. The info might always be handy later is perhaps the thought.

If I haven't given away info x or y myself, it means I want it private.

Heck, I even want to delete some of the stupid things I've written online over the years. But sadly, I can't.

What happend to this idea? Seemed interesting to me!

Dwilight / Re: Sanguis Astroism
« on: January 11, 2014, 05:36:58 AM »
One thing I've got to say is the church totally played with kid gloves in this war and it bit us in the ass big time. No Auto De Fes and we only excommunicated one person. We could have done so much more damage if we'd played hardball. I think that serves to highlight what's gone wrong with SA.

The problem is we're afraid to be rabble rousers. We're afraid to send priests into lands where they're forbidden. We're afraid to sponsor pro SA rebellions. We think if we do that our priests will be persecuted and our temples burned. We're afraid to excommunicate people. We think if we do that all it means is fewer members. What we fail to realize is that' these are the things which make SA an exciting religion to be in. Some people want the chance to become martyrs or heretics. We shouldn't be afraid to lose characters in this way. If you can't get kicked out of SA then being a member has no meaning. If you can't become a martyr then there's nothing to aspire to. In the end we'll lose way more characters if we simply make the religion boring and bland because people will just plain leave.

The current situation could lead to an exciting age of fundamentalism. Now that the religion has more followers then ever it means more lords and rulers can't risk going against the church. SA players need to start checking their modern day sensibilities at the door and start getting medieval. We need more people to see Pagans and Heathens as their enemies and to see it as their duty to see Sanguis Astroism become the state religion. Priests will be killed, temples will be burned, astroist peasants will riot, duchies will secede, rebellions will be hatched. These are all good things for the game and for Sanguis Astroism.

Now that is a religion you want to be a part of! A religion that takes itself seriously enough to risk upsetting people.

Before I file anything in the bugtracker that might be caused by the rebalance, did any of the rest of you notice production changing in your regions but the official morning reports saying "unchanged"?

In Balance's Retreat, it has said no change for the last 12 days or so but it has in fact dropped 4 percentage units in production. From 99 to 95.

I  hope Dwilight will be sink..

You're probably quite alone in that opinion considering that Dwilight always ends up on top as the most popular continent.

I got coal for Christmas. Rettleville (Dwilight) needs to feed 4.500 more peasants with a 300 gold tax loss. Similar cities produce much more than 778 gold, such as Koshtlom, Shinnen, Fissoa, Chrysantalys & Sallowtown (both with an even smaller population). Besides that, 35% of all townslands are richer than Rettleville, while even more are more valuable because they do produce food, and Rettleville needs to import it. To complete the list, 5 mountain regions and two strongholds have a larger income while some don't even have half the population of Rettleville. This just doesn't sound very fair.

I'm sorry to hear of your...coal. Sadly some lose out by this balance change. But as sympathetic as I am, I wish to remind you that population size does not equal absolute wealth in the real world either. Iran is about as wealthy as Sweden in absolute terms, but has 8 times the population. Ukraine is about as wealthy as Romania in absolute terms but has more than twice the population, just to take two examples.

In my opinion, there should be regions which are considered useless. Those can be used to form natural borders.

Sure, they can create "natural borders" which is wonderful in real life but why is it good in battlemaster?

Natural borders lessen conflict and conflict is what's fun in battlemaster ;)

As I wrote elsewhere, Desert of Silhouettes on Dwilight is down to producing 34 (!) gold. I was merely curious if this was intentional or something that has been forgotten or how the general thinking went on incredibly poor regions.

Haven't noticed any trouble except that yet!
