I do believe Tom said that, so many years ago. And it's a general consensus amongst people that it was a temporary continent. At least for me, the intentions of an invasion have always been to rid the continent of players (or has been), so it could be closed down. It worked the other way around, though. Invasions actually attract people.

BT was never meant to be everlasting. Tom will eventually drive everybody out of the continent.

Zbartivlast, The Abyss

The Deity was drawn out of his trance by a certain activity in the otherplanely essence. More creation was going on. More gods were roaming the Void. "They might come for us. Will they like us?" he spoke to himself. "Who knows? We should protect our haven here. Let us do something. Let us get... minions." And so Zbartivlast created his minions from what he learned while being in a trance. They were meant to be his servants in his plane, and to carry out his eternal will in it. (Create life: The Buin-ak)

Suddenly, out of the scorch that is the plane, creatures emerged. They were cruel in appearance: a dark, leather skin. Rather small of size, and no hair whatsoever. They were capable of running very fast, and jumping rather high, but like their creator their sight was limited in a bright light. They were accustomed to the darkness of the Plane, where barely any light was to be found (more of a dark shade). The creatures rarely had to feed themselves, but when they went into a feeding frenzy (a full out hunt) they preferred to eat the brains of their victims. Rarely did they resort to plants to feed upon.

Zbartivlast, The Void

Zbartivlast was happy with his minions. They would guard and maintain The Abyss for him, while he was busy elsewhere. He left his plane, the Abyss, only to begin with his immense work on the mortal world. He spotted the planet that was, mostly covered by water, but with spots of land already visible. Life was already present. Though that did not satisfy Zbartivlast. Upon watching, he casts his will, and his essence watching from the Void spawned a mass of land, a place upon which a few million could live. (Create Terrain: Goralian)

Zbartivlast, Goralian

The vast land mass was surrounded by water. It was a diverse place: there was green vegetation on some place, then desert, then a scorched earth in the vicinity of volcanoes. A mixture of inhospitable mountains and fertile plains might easily confuse someone. There was not much logic behind the shaping of the texture of the Goralian. It seems as if it was done at random. Yet Zbartivlast smiled, and made his next step. There was no life on his land. That would change. In a hard discussion with himself, Zbartivlast had trouble determining what his offspring would look like. Finally, he came to a consensus with himself. (Create Life:  Eyonoi)

The Eyonoi were a strange sort of creatures. Dwelling the more hospitable parts of Goralian, there were several thousands of them. Natural to their behaviour was an expansionist mind, set to conquering unknown parts of land and to spread their 'dominance' over it. They had a cruel way of dealing with nature, and when they depleted the resources of one region, they would move on to another. Gatherers at best, they sometimes resorted to cannibalism when they ran out of an immediate source of food. It was time for the Deity to meet his creatures. (Create Avatar: The Black Kingfisher)

And as a Kingfisher, Zbartivlast went to his people, and the appearance shook the Eyonoi, as they bent down and praised that what they did not recognize as being worldly. The Black Kingfisher was only capable of intruding once thoughts and mind, as he could only make shrieking sounds that one could not understand but being an outcry of a dark and dangerous bird. The avatar would resort with his people, and keep a constant watch on them. Intervention was not yet needed... for now.

Dobromir has his realms in hands. I don't doubt that. Sometimes though I have the feeling they lack the greater "statesmen" that Perdan does have.

Depends on how die hard are the die hard. The game will likely need to change if it loses too many players, and the diehard might not totally adapt to the changes to come.

I've been die hard adapting to changes in the past 8 years. I saw the New World created because the other islands were getting too crowded. I don't mind seeing it close again.  8)

I was kind of making an irony-related joke...  ;) Which leads me to conclude that Bedwyr was being ironic too. It sounds much worse when you say it like that.

Can you believe, by the way, that we have one of the worst harvests in history behind our back? Only 1900 food produced! And you guys felt funny and came burn some of that.

It all depends on which realms you're in. There are some where numbers crunching is the number 1 national pastime, and there are others where you'll get a ton of RP. If one realm isn't to your liking, there's dozens of others you can try out.

Riombara has complex math class from 1pm to 3pm. Each day. Weekends included!

Gold theft? I haven't heard of Judges doing that often to prisoners of war. Guess its not worth the poor reputation that tends to follow such actions.

In the previous Ibladesh(+Caligus) vs Perdan war, the Perdanese were so kind to offer me an infiltrator with about 2500 gold on him. Only time I stole money. So worth it.  ;D

I got captured in the last round... my unit took about 45 hits, and that routed them. The 1500 hits inflicted on them before, no problem.

Sigh. Now Harte stole my gold. My precious. Revenge will be sweeter than ever!

It's a consequence of their geography. The islands are poor, and have nasty travel times. This leads to a weak realm. Shady has the right idea in mind: Expand to the mainland. That means going after the Sultanate. But the problem there is they have to land on the shore right next to SoA's capital... Their only other alternative is to become muscle for SoA or Perdan, and devote themselves to long marches to fight battles.

Didn't they "become muscle" in the Perdan vs Caligus/Ibladesh war? I recall them showing up with like 5k cs max, twice. Got their asses handed to them, then had to march all the way home again.

They're too poor and too small to do anything. Might as well migrate and let the regions go rogue.

Helpline / Re: Priest Influence Options
« on: June 14, 2011, 08:53:31 PM »
Is it worth it to use these? Or does it cause too many followers to abandon the faith to outweigh the benefits? I would think that if you use it in regions where your religion is in total dominance, then it wouldn't matter how many followers you lose because they would just get converted back anyway. Otherwise other religions could come and take them up.

They're very much worth it. It's a standard strategy for Ibladesh to use the influence options to maintain regions and/or spread hatred and/or prepare for a (religious) take over. The most easy regions to do this is where the region lord is a follower of the faith (in Ibladesh, that are all regions). The amount of followers quickly restores to the highest possible for that region.

I do believe though that a higher Oratory skill will give better results. And yes, sometimes you loose a lot of followers. Sometimes you don't. It's like preaching, really.

S'all good :D I'm just here to have a good time.

Just wanted to say, I am VERY excited to see how this battle in Walefishire turns out! Especially because it's my region :P

Anyways, Caerwyn has level 2 walls and 11k CS versus the 22k of Astrum, Morek Empire and Corsanctum. Although they have 23.5k rallied in Duil, we all know 100% doesn't move.

You pagans stand no chance. We from Corsanctum are like spoiled kids: all brought oversized units.  8)

The Abyss

In the Abyss, gravity is mostly random. There is no possible prediction to know when it will be strong or when it will be weak, even absent. Lumps of mass collide or a drawn in two, even three pieces. There is no center of gravity present; there are not much rules. Most masses are desolate, dry, with a sort of scorches soil and rare puddles of a boiling, black liquid. In some caves, deep inside the masses, there is some water and small rays of light, entering through seemingly old extinguished volcanoes.

This plane is not for the sane. It is set on driving the "intruders" mad. It is possible to embrace madness and survive here, if you manage to survive the surroundings long enough.

Zbartivlast, The Void

Things were happening. There was creation ongoing. Others were busy. "Who are they?" he whispered to himself. "I do not know... Are they us?" His mouth shivered, his essence rippled. It was as if Zbartivlast was bouncing, on invisible walls, back and forth, up and down. Madness took hold of him. Then, he froze, as if he was spotting something. He spoke, but not with words.

Essence sprout out of his wide open mouth. There was no sound coming out of it, but more a place. (Create Plane: The Abyss)

He seared as it be the essence of the Abyss. It was a place, rather plane, that resembled the essence of him. A dark place that would be under constant influence of itself. As if it changed itself, every now and then, to something different, but still quite the same. The Abyss was determined to haunt. Here Zbartivlast was home: he felt comfortable. He would wait, before he would do more: the perfect image of him that the Abyss was, caught his attention. Staring into the endlessness of it all, his reasoning went into another state... a trance.
