BM General Discussion / Re: Dukes, Power, and Families

Honestly, I know exactly how you feel...  Having power IC because you followed the RP actions your character would make.  The largest bottleneck of politics in the Colonies was caused by this sort of situation...Likewise made a powerful Guild (now destroyed) in the FEI that gave a character of mine a very powerful role in the southern politics.

I have a couple tid bits of advice:

1. Get true with your self.  Make sure you are honest about the RP your characters are doing so that you know there is not a regrettable moment for you OOC

2. Do not let it bother you when people start to call you names.  Oh I have been attacked many times by many people over the years... It always hurt my feelings because I knew I was doing really well at following what my characters would independently do.  Do not bite the hook and argue back.  It is not worth the trouble.

3. Enjoy your down fall :)  It will come, and it will be exciting (if done right)

Naaa.  I just played him the way he was meant to be played.  Put him in harms way and leave him there until he cant fight or there is nothing to fight.  Actually tho, I thought he would have reinforcements from the Assassins.  No one else knows about that request but Val and Aramon tho as far as I know.

Ares may bring the barbarian horde north in full force.  Not sure as I couldn't get any messages being dead and all.  But this should help liven up the colonies for a bit right?  Offers chances for people to unite against a weakened Lukon... drive wedges into orit lukon relations... even trick Lukon into marching to Giblot while the assassins and MT swing around to hit portion.  Lots of options... lots of fun I hope!

My adventurer has done the portal stone thing.  Back when all it took was 7.  Was kinda cool but a big letdown after the fireworks were done.  Never trust nobles to follow through...  That adventurer has two more of the stones now.  just not in the colonies....too bad too.

Well, I like to vote.  I do not mind lending a hand when it comes to vulgar messages in game...

So instead of random people allowed to debate or discuss...
Instead of open floor forum...

Make it into a private vote...  a random jury of peers are able to select from options given, they can add a line or two of why they choose this... and submit.

If not enough players submit during the first round, those who did not loose the chance and it is given to others.  That prevents the system from waiting on people out of town.

The end result and comments come to the titans, and they are able to take the guilty/innocent verdict and apply the appropriate action.

hehe... He was around a long time thats for sure.  Helped me learn the game ic and ooc.  And playing him helped me to learn a lot about myself and the real world too....such as how to have a thicker skin.

Oh James that was not the first time that had happened you know.  It is hard to find people who can remember back all the way back 7 or 8 years  :P

OT and Valast go way back too.  Fighting off the Lich King was fun.  Saving your scurvy arse from Giblot to get your city back... Well anyway, could go on for hours like a REAL old barbarian with stories.  but um..that would make me look like a lame geek.  Which I am, but I dont want to LOOK like one!

Ahhh well.  I suppose the question now is where do I put my new character and where?  Was thinking Valda...Daughter of Valast.

Ahh I did not see the orig. bug on the tracker before I made one today.

Does this mean that if we wait a few days the wounded part will go away allowing us to see the messages?  OR will they remain wounded until we click the bury option?

HAHA... good times.

Um... I think I will leave that up to the Judge... I E no way in heck.

Oh im sure there is an IC way to get back into good standing but proly not.

Then again...Valast is a very old man.  Most of Lukons Barbarians are old people who just haven't died in battle yet.  When they start to die out, the whole island dynamic will start to change.

whaaat?

No one is ban on sight in Lukon.  Thats something I have made sure of.  Heck we have even offered Innocent a place to come aboard.  Of course staying very long depends on actions...but...

I agree... sort of

The balance of the Colonies was fine as long as no one showed much success.  Lukon was able to capitalize on  mistakes by its enemies over the years and here we are.

In Lukons defense...everything has always been on the up and up.  We offered outs to realms instead of taking them out, but it seems a common trend that people prefer to fight to the last instead.  In Alebads case Lukon made repeated deals with them, each one broken by Alebad.

You are right that there are a number of families with two nobles in the realm.  I am not sure why that is except that with the reduced number of players in the game recently, Lukons number have really declined.  Down from about 50.  I guess those players who felt most at home in Lukon have stayed.

I am very proud of Lukon as a realm.  Oh I have been bashed by this person or that... called many many...many names OOC over the years but I can honestly say that Valast has remained the character I designed him to be.  I have not let him capitalize on situations that would be OOC for him even tho it could have aided the realm strategically.  At the same time I have not passed up situations that fit just to preserve game balance.  To do that would be in my view just as bad as being a completely strategic player.

Lukon is big.  Her people are loyal. but that does not mean she is TOO powerful or TOO big.  Lukon will fall one day not too far off I think.  But we cant just let it happen.  It has to happen in its own time.

One problem is that even if Lukon were to crumble into three realms today, one realm will end up stronger then another and we will be in the same situation in a few months or years.

Another is that the story line must not be broken for the sake of game balance or strategy play.

A third is that Oritolon is strong also, so does every realm need to be limited to one city for ever?  Makes it a bit boring IMO and we have enough problems attracting players to the Colonies.
--

Perhaps we should be talking about visible weaknesses in Lukon to provide ideas?

BM General Discussion / Re: Favorite Island

I cant stand Dwilight... I like that people are involved and RP but I will never enjoy a island full arguing ooc about IC RP.

All the other islands are way more laid back...some too laid back.  IMO play your characters like you designed them and move forward.

but hey, thats why we have more then one island right?

Go Colonies go!!! Were #last! Were #last!

Colonies are wonderful...  A completely different concept then the other islands.  The long travel times and slow turns just mean you have to adjust your play style and thinking from what you may do in other realms.

And while the RP may not be very heavy, I feel that the character development can be very strong.  I have had characters from the colonies that have gone on to do big things on other islands while staying true to how they were developed.

Great place
