I've pirated. Once you have your fleets set on piracy they automatically try to attack merchant fleets. Its really easier when the player has no escorts and have merchants stacked up large groups, the highest I've seen is 200! Anyway, the pirates capture the enemy merchant ships and add them to your pirate fleet along with whatever goods they have in them. You'll have to bring the fleet to a nearby planet to trade the goods, and dismantle the fleet to get rid of the merchants. This is another reason I'd like to be able to manage the ships in a fleet to be able to divide the merchants up from the subspacers.

You can still manage to snap up merchants even if they have escorts in the same fleet, but the chances seem to be pretty low. They can fight back, and I've lost a few pirate fleets from running them into large patrols of cruisers and destroyers.

If you require any more assistance, I can dust off my factories and planets and muster up a substantial fleet. My planets have been just sitting around, and I've only sent out a few arcs every now and then. I have millions of resources stored up by now.

Actually...to my knowledge, that's never happened.

Portal stones are used to close portals, not open them.

I'm pretty sure the idea that they could open portals started on other continents when they started showing up there, and eventually migrated back to BT. But there is nothing that any dev or GM has done (to my knowledge) to encourage this belief. It's purely a player invention.

Back when Vlaanderen was around and Arcane was the ruler, we opened a portal in Zisswii. Didn't really do much though. I guess it gave the daimons in the realm a few more soldiers, but that was about it. However, it still stands that we did open one, or at least gathered all eight stones to open one. Not sure how much game mechanics wise really happened, but Arcane at least roleplayed a portal being opened.

On a sienote... baz was pirating my merchants and trespassing through my PD without permission... so I declared war on him. I didn't realize that he's actually a pretty big empire. Here's hoping I can resolve the issue quickly.

Yeah I found his pirates all the way up to where I am. I'll help you if he starts attacking with large fleets.

In the way game is being handled right now, I would push for a reset. That everyone will be more or less equal when they start. When one player starts dominating, another reset should be called.

Or another method... Have a technology that destroys the galaxy(ends the game) when you have the capacity to fulfill a huge amount of resources. And then keep track who was the top player. Sorta like one big board game tournament.

There were more than double the amount of loyalists than rebels, and basically everyone is protesting the government, because it's just a power play by a small faction trying to use force to take the government.

I am on the side that opposes the rebellion , but I don't think its a powerplay. It was a very smart(or lucky) operation of a group of a militants. They planned well and they were rewarded well by their taking of the rulership. Just because they succeeded doesn't mean they were powerplaying. Just because they are a "small group trying to take the government mean they were powerplaying. It was perfectly legitimate and well thought of. However, what they lack is the support of the people, and that is why they will eventually fail and get all banned.

This is what BM is about. It is a power struggle, but not a powerplay.

I can see lots of potential abuses in this, especially for money-funneling/banking purposes. Religions are not intended to be money-makers, or to be able to generate large cash flows without significant donations from the nobility.

Granting your estate to the church isn't a significant donation?

The first time I did that, I got banned. :-[

One thing that ties into the one person vs lots of people developing theology debate...

"Long lost" religions that are "rediscovered" need to burn in eternal hellfire.  It's possible, I'm sure, to have a great religion based around that.  But it bugs me every time.

We need to have more religions based around characters. Some people need to proclaim themselves as gods!
